anyone ever used a professional spray gun with the air compressor etc? im really toying with the idea of finding a bargain kit and then when i buy splitters, etc.. i can spray em up myself.. any hints n tips would be useful.. even if its just "rob, your stupid, dont even try it" lol

rob, what i am going to do is rent the equipment which is like 14.99 for 2 days and test my methods on scrapyard parts to see what sort of finish i get before commiting to my own car. my friends dad has an old MGB which he sprayed himself and said itd be nuts to go to a garage to do it..dunno

yeah... but i've found bodyshops down here dont half charge a lot to spray up bits you know those afterburner lights.. i was quoted £90 to have them done... if you buy a splitter at £100, there fairly easy to fit yourself but its gonna mean paying twice to get it sprayed up... seems a lot more money...

spraying normal flat paint is not that difficult once the methods are learned and stuck to and by using a compressor with proper spray gun then a good even finish becomes easy, but mettalic paints are a little more difficult due to the metal flakes within the paint but witha proper spray gun it becomes easier
spraying and getting good results is not hard just learn the methods and practice until you know the score |
