Cam Timing

Hello i have just bought a saxo VTR and im wondering if any of you guys play with the standard camshaft to get a little extra from it (advancing etc). Reason i ask is on other cars i have played with this can gain a little extra ummphh. Im not too clued up on french cars so any light on this will be appreciated

What did you do to the other cars cams?

Surely just changing the camshaft timing, your just going to seriously alter the time inlet and exhaust vavles open? causing serious damage? unless you mean changing tappet clearance? but that's just going to cause lack of fuel/air mixture, or blowby :geek:

It was on a metro few years ago, we advanced the camshaft by 2 teeth and adjusted ignition, was noticeably different mid to top end. These cars have electronic coils though dont they so adjusting spark is a problem

Nothing to be gained from playing with the timing imo.
