Assuming your " '98 Saxo X VTR Replica " is a 1.1 HDZ engine - you need to take a feed from pin 6 on the ECU according to that ECU diagram. It should be a green wire labelled 425. Splice this wire to a connector then to your blue wire of the counter. Test it in the engine bay before wiring it through to your dash to make sure its working :)

ok i have wired it to the wire cumming of that pin, i get a reading from the rev counter but its not true, the car ticks over at 500rpm and the limiter kicks in at 4?

how do i get a true reading?
thanks

Try wire counter earth (black) to ECU earth (pin 2) ..

charlie7543 25th January 2011 17:39

ok will give it a go tommora morning, the black goes to the battery negative side, or does it have to go to pin 1?

outrage_uk 25th January 2011 17:44

Pin 2 is earth sorry... not pin 1!!

Don't hold me too it though, ive never done it, im only going on wiring diagrams. Look after your ECU.

Blue to Pin 6 (Green)
Black to Pin 2
Red to Ignition Live (Ignition switch?)

Thats how I would try it. If it doesn't work, id leave it how it is and fit a variable resister between Pin 6 and the counter so you can adjust it to how you want.
