Lambda sensors

just wondering where the 2 lambda from the exhaust plug into the engine area,
ive had to get a mani and cat for mot and it has 2 holes for sensors, one in the cat and one in the mani itself, and need to figure out if i need both or its just the manifold one i need to use. 2000 vtr silver top
cheers :y:

It depends on Mk.1 and Mk.2 engines. Are you sure you have got a direct replacement to the one you have taken off? Mk.1 (single plug ECU) only has 1 sensor, Mk.2 (3 plug ECU) has two - pre and post cat. To save you the hassle of going back you could just get a lambda blank off piece, or just put an old lambda in the second hole if you have got one spare? I would still check it's the right part for your car first of all :y:

thats the thing what i took off was just a manifold and downpipe with the triangler flange, it had no cat on the car. it has no sensor hole in the mani and one in the downpipe.

ahh just re-read the post, mines a mk2 single plug, so should only need one sensor.

Yeah.. you just have a downpipe with a hole for 1 lambda sensor in that. The cat is under the car and doesn't have a post cat sensor. If you have gone and bought a (more expensive) cat which is part of the manifold, then change it for the single downpipe. :y:

not too fussed cos the the mani and cat i bought was 2nd hand for 50 notes, i can sell that on,
so when i get the proper exhaust set up i should only have 1 lambda sensor which would be where?

At the front of the engine as you look at it, just behind the radiator fan. Your sensor should bolt into the downpipe there.
