Whine/Whistle

Know there's a few of these on here but thought I'd ask anyway, not sure where this is coming from but I'm getting a whistle/whining noise when engine reaches 2000+rpm.

You can hear it more in the car than outside. It's just had a cambelt change, checked tightness and tensioner all ok, alternator belt tightness is ok.

It only seems to whine after engines been running for 10-15 minutes when its warmed up.

could be anything then need to know what side the noise is comeing from that would help, may altenator belt ? or probably going to be the gearbox

Wouldn't the gearbox make a whine at any RPM?

Its hard to hear where its exactly coming from. Its definetely something behind or below the engine because its difficult to hear when you've got your head in bonnet.

Then in the car I'd say it sounds like its coming from footwell area.

Nah they get worse as the revs increase and the pressure between the gears becomes greater and greater.

Gearbox went in my first car due to oil loss from driveshaft, sounded like a formula 1 car in 2nd gear was quite funny lol.

would it still do it if car wasn't in any gear though?

Sure you haven`t got a split in a pipe somewhere, making it whistle as the air goes through it?

Steve.
