s555dan's silver MK1 VTR track / fast road toy *insert vts lump here* UPDATE 07/02/2010

Hello

I have found the time to make a progress thread for my saxo. :clapping:

Its had a rough 115k life from what i can tell, i bought it when i joined this forum and used it as a daily until the electrics died following a clutch job. Since then it has been off the road for about 6 months.

Pics when i bought it

I started work early this year, here is what i have done;

Simota enclosed intake
4-2-1 manifold
Powerflow oval tip bacbox and cat back (for road)
Powerflow backbox with straight through centre section for track
Spax PSX adjustable -40mm dampers and springs
Mintex standard pads and disks
Cobra buckets
OMP 4 Point harnesses
OMP steering wheel
OMP lower strut brace
pug 205 oil cooler
My private plate
Removed all interior
Pop rivet sunroof blank
custom oil catch tank

Also put some of things back to standard such as front and rear headlights, grill, rocker cover.

Here are some pics of the works and how it stands

welded arches

sunroof panel

Lowering

Exhaust mani

buckets and wheel

Thanks bud :A:

Got two track days a Castle Combe booked - 5th May and 26th August. Was part of a special offer, buy a track day at £170 get another for £50. Saved £120!

I'll be looking at one more track day mid-year at one of the local aifields

Cheers bud, sunroof was easy to do and defo worth it for weight saving.

The main reason why i got rid of it was that it leaked and had no handle! lol

Only cost £20 for a bit of steel, spray paint £5 and a few pop rivents and sealant,

Still to do

Oil Cooler
Tappets
Timing belt and water pump
Carpeted door cards
Steering rack gaiter

s555dan 8th April 2011 19:43

Gave it a wash

couttsyboy 10th April 2011 20:30

looks tidy mate, looking forward to the progress

s555dan 10th April 2011 20:58

Fitted a steering rack gaiter kit today

this means i "should" be MOT pass ready

But you never know with MOTs lol

I also fitted a wicked home made gearstick/extension which works sweet with the quickshift, having the gearstick level with the steering wheel gives the a sort of sequential feel. Pics to follow.

Still to do Oil cooler and door cards before track time May 5th.

Peace

With my track day coming up on this thursday I thought it was time to put the decat pipe on.

While i was there i cut out the back bumper track style as it was melted around the tail pipe plastic - from the stupidly large powerflow.

I also cut the nasty oval off the backbox.

before

after

The decat does make a difference, revs are much more free.

Also the temperatures seemed a little more controled under the bonnet

the exhuast is much quieter without the oval which im happy about as i have to meet the 98db limit at castle coombe

Opinions welcome

moxy89 1st May 2011 17:42

rear bumper looks awful..
