Andy's Icelandic VTS

Hi all ive been a member on here for ages since i had a black mk2 vtr about 2 years ago. Anyways got another saxo so thought i would get a bit more involved this time and make a progress thread of the new motor.

So the old motor.... (still love it to pieces and will own another one in the future, great cars!

So i bought it from a very nice chap in wales and brought it back to bristol with me. was a lush drive back through the valleys and although its definately a fair bit slower than the GT, it makesup for it in the corners. i love how it handles!

old picture i found on R Tecs website.

Mods are

Apparantly one off wheels. Team dynamic pro race 3's in Aston Martin Anthracite (only set in the uk in that colour from factory...?) cant confirm this tho!

Lowered 40mm on spax adjustable shocks.

Longlife cat back exhaust.

Sparco strut brace

Cobra Daytona Bucket seats. which are really comfy but i may have to sell becuase it doing my head in winding them back and forward every time i get a passenger in the back!

All ive done since ive had it is fit an induction kit which i just need to finish with some kind of cold air feed. But looks good i think considering i just used bit lying around in me mates garage lol

Anyways let me know what you think good or bad

SaxoAL 13th June 2011 18:45

Love it dude.
Yes they are the only set of Pro Race 3's ever done in that colour, as I had them done myself (I work for R-Tec and owned the car before GJF47)
Glad its still on sax-p :y:

SaxoAL 13th June 2011 18:50

It's one of the best condition ones out there. I spent ages looking for that! You've got a good car there, and what looked like a bargain price. Look forward to seeing its progress.

Nice car, good to see it still lives!

At least you know where your's is Al, mine is probably dead by now... it's completely off radar lol

Glad to see you on here Andy, take good care of her mate :y:

MrChris 13th June 2011 20:29

Is a very clean example, nice motor mate :y:

SaxoAL 13th June 2011 21:24

They are mate! I only did about 5k miles after I bought if off you. Still plenty of tread left on them as I never ragged the car anywhere, just drove it sensibly most of the time.

SaxoAL 16th June 2011 08:32

Really love the look of this car! Miss it! If only I had the money and the time to buy it to supercharge. I will one day have a supercharged saxo. Done most other things in them but not supercharged one yet.. Andy you're a lucky man.

Cheers mate will do. No my mate bought the bmc off of me straight away for a price i couldnt refuse so that had to go.

@saxoAL id love to boost it mate but i dont thnik youll be seeing that while i own it sorry!

Small update.
Car started misfiring pretty bad so went to check the plugs. Pulled coil pack off and it fell apart lol so new one of those on order. Also getting some loud clunky noises from front suspension sometimes so may have to change that in the near future too.
Only actuall changes are some heko wind deflectors. Ill get some more pics up later.

Thanks for all the nice comments lads much appreciated.

GJF47 19th June 2011 13:02

I meant to tell you there is a new set of Bosch plugs on there mate, changed the same time as the starter motor. Sorry about the coil pack though, I never had any problems with it misfiring. And the knocking noise? Have you found out what is causing it?

blainej 19th June 2011 13:36

nice car mate really smart coil packs seem to be a common problem on these mates went the other day

Jay_ 19th June 2011 13:37

That is bloody stunning! :y:

tepson 19th June 2011 15:20

Yeah the plugs did look really clean but changed them for the sake of it while i was there. Not your fault at all about the coil pack tho just one of those things. As for the knocks its only now and again so just gunna get it up on the ramps next time i have a chance n have a look, its not too bad tho just something i need to look at.

Just gave it a massive clean so go take some pictures in a bit!

gnevnev 19th June 2011 16:41

tepson 19th June 2011 18:10

harry289 19th June 2011 18:43

At the rear of the cobra's is there not a black bar you can pull for quick release to get peeps in the back, a bar just under the seat? There was on mine.

Lovely car, lovely colour, lovely stance, amazing wheels! :)
