It's fairly easy to do, just get a mate and a hair dryer. Im shite with DIY, but me and a mate carbon wrapped a Fiesta ST Bonnet

johnny86 5th July 2011 17:15

If I done it myself and messed it up id end up losing what patience i have left with saxo..

Abass123 5th July 2011 17:25

i advise you not to use hairdryer to wrap use a squeegee and a water spray gun

lilbenchy9192 5th July 2011 19:16

wat ever u do with carbon fibre look vinyl make sure u buy some decent stuff. with the cheaper stuff the second u stretch it to far it just distorts the apearance of the weave and looks pants

johnny86 5th July 2011 20:10

Decided I'm gonna spray it matt black before I fit it now.. then when funds allow buy a posi blue vt kit..

MiniGibbo 5th July 2011 21:00

Im Guessing you don't want proper wet lay and want that bullshit Chavvy 3m weave so won't waste my time :S

Why is it no one wants to help and just bitch and whinge?

I've done the odd bit of vinyl wrapping, it's not too tough. Carbon look is thick compared to some stuff. Domt be scared of giving it a go. Someone I know wrapped his 996 turbo. But then he owns that because he can't afford a real car with carbon ;)

Most fitting companies advise against this on some parts, espec if you need the car soon after. The reason you need to heat wrap is so it forms to the contours of the body, cold vinyl doesn't stretch as well.

Of corse I know the difference it doesnt matter that its more expensive that just means itll take longer to save..

the kit can be carbon skinned but purely for looks not for weight saving

To further answer your pm, i know a guy who wet lays (he does all my bits) but noone who can make actual bits like bonnets etc..

These are a few shots of some of my bits, im currently having the cowel and mirror backs done.

beckford 6th July 2011 16:16

who does yours minigibbo?

MiniGibbo 6th July 2011 16:19

Guy on the e36 forum, hes on a few does loads of vw bits too.

He can wrap anything internal or external but it comes down to how much money you want to spend..
