snow foam im doing it wrong

Hey lads theirs something im doing badly wrong as i jsut cant get this stuff to work ie..

1 inch of normal shampoo with water - Hardly foams, wont stick to the car or clean it.

1 inch of shampoo and 1 inch of super foam - sticks better but dosent clean the car

1 inch of super foam on its own - foams better and sticks to the car but dosent clean it at all..

So far ive tried these as i have no idea of how much stuff to use or anything, i normally use youtube videos to learn tech and stuff but theyre really unhelpful, its just people spraying their cars :S

Anyone shed any light on where im going wrong as it dosent shift any dirt, grime at all not even loose bird poo :(

saxovtsmad 31st July 2011 12:48

i usually jet wash the car first then snowfoam it after

MiniGibbo 31st July 2011 13:03

Yer i wet it first then tried the above dilutions and it didnt do anything :homme:

I know your ment to still hand wash it afterwards but i literallly just wasted my time :wall:

Are you using the Autobrite HD lance?

An inch of foam is fine, topped up with water, and turn the dial right round to the - (minus) sign

Right round to the minus means less water more foam, should be sticky as fuck

Give the car a coat of it but don't coat it on too thick as it'll start dripping off.. Leave it for a good 5 minutes, maybe give your wheels a quick clean while its dwelling, then rinse it off

Should remove most dirt and any bird shit

If you're doing all this then fuck knows whats wrong

If im foaming i normaly do a inch of maxi suds then magic foam. Then pressure washer it off then just clean all the rest of the foam off with a open water source. foaming just loosens dirt.

You got a good LSP down?

0rang3peel 31st July 2011 13:57

I find that I often have loads of the mix left in the bottle, so I do it again for the shits & giggles

MiniGibbo 31st July 2011 18:55

I bought the lance that J2222rsa posted up the other day?

Think i had it somewhere in the middle between maximum and minium.. did wonder if i was putting it on too thick.

Ill give it another go when i get chance and try a "lighter" coating.

Thanks guys.

I use the valet pro ph neutral snow foam and get it nice and thick.

An inch of snow foam with a drop of shampoo
Fill it up with warm water and give it a shake then turn it down to "-" and its all good!

0rang3peel 31st July 2011 19:10

I've used the super snow foam & the cherry that the autobrite comes with, If I'm honest I couldn't notice any difference towards levels of foam.

you should be able to get thickness like this

MiniGibbo 31st July 2011 19:11

I also wasnt shaking it..

Cant beleive theirs not a good youtube video on this, when i first wanted to do polishing/waxing i watched a few vid's and got well clued up

MiniGibbo 31st July 2011 19:12

Yer thats similar to what i had but it ran off very quickly so i went over it loads and loads (which i now see might of not been helping) so i let it soak and still didnt touch the dirt :S

0rang3peel 31st July 2011 19:14

It sounds like maybe you're expecting too much from it, I do it as a quick clean to loosen up a bit of the dirt but it won't get off bird crap at all really or anything like that.

It's kind of a novelty to be honest, it's certainly not a crucial stage but seeing as I've got it & it's quite fun I carry on doing it

MiniGibbo 31st July 2011 19:29

So its just to loosen it? i thaught it got all the crap off and just left the slimmy film of dirt?

That makes sence.. il still hand wash afterwards i just thaught it would make it cleaner as ive heard in the past of people who only snow foam their car :homme:

No idea why you would just snowfoam tbh, maybe for a top-up clean but that's a bit gay.

I Just shoot around the car with it, leave the foam to dwell for about 5, rinse off, repeat if you have foam left in the lance & can be assed then wash as usual it only adds about 10 minutes onto my usual wash anyway not exactly a time consuming process like waxing etc

It certainly does remove some dirt as if you look at the foam, particularly near the wheels you will see the foams turned brown :afro:

Frankay 31st July 2011 21:08

yea as far as i know a snowfoam is just a pre cleaner and isnt ment to take of bird shit etc, it just loosens dirt and road grime as said.

Petee 31st July 2011 21:48

Last step prep mate, wax sealant etc.

If you havnt got a decent amount down it hardly cleans at all

As said, I found that with snowfoam when I first got my clio, not much happened, now the car has sealant etc. on, snowfoam works a lot better :)

Sometimes when I'm feeling really lazy and cant be arsed with buckets I just slap on some snowfoam and wash the car with that.

It felt wrong and against my beliefs but worked well for a quick wash.

2inches of VP Snow Foam, a drop of Maxi Suds II and hot water produces this for me...

Holdawayt - I foam, rinse then re-foam and use a soap solution and mitts as part of my wash stage, works perfectly fine
