Help wanted

Hi first time on site, looking for help, am racing a saxo vtr on a dirt oval track, loads of power in second, but am struggling at the start due to rev limiter, kicking in, no problem in second as its only a short track. Also have a few bits from the strip down,i.e glass elec windows and white clocks, steering wheel air bag. many thanks

hold on wait a minute what are you asking here?

dave-richards 22nd August 2011 21:17

take it your talking autograss racing then

Vtr_Cam 22nd August 2011 21:19

As in your first gear is too short or cant pull of the line? Dont understand :panic:

cyne 22nd August 2011 21:20

I think hes saying he hits the limiter in first but cannot in second gear as the track isn't long enough?

Dom 22nd August 2011 21:21

Can't do sweet FA about that unless you mess around with the box stupidly.

Vtr_Cam 22nd August 2011 21:22

Dont think there is a longer box than the VTR which i guess your running.

Have a look in the Track section mate, better luck with an answer in that section of the forum

You need a diesel box for a longer 1st, Or an S1 box so it will pull in 2nd.

So are you saying its better or worse to have a diesel gearbox for a track car?

flol at the quote, probably worse on autograss, think it'll probably be more beneficial to look at the tyres he's using in that sport alaska 2's are good iirc

There's about 3 different diesel boxes. The one i used to have on my VTR would do 105mph in third.

Blue_Beast 22nd August 2011 23:12

I do oval grass track racing myself and apart from the hassel of swapping out boxes
to get more out of first gear put her on carb/carbs and bin the ecu that will take the
rev limiter off and the speed limiter you would need to fit a diffrent distributor and coil
off an earlier saxo though.

Blue_Beast 22nd August 2011 23:16

Also forgot to mention bigger/wider wheels and tyres would help gear it up a bit sounds
as if yours are spinning to much aswell which in turn is making it hit off the limiter.

logic_guy 22nd August 2011 23:30

But size 13" steelies on and you'll hit 2nd before you know it.
