Matt Black Scootaaayy! **MOT Passed n Insured**

:y::clapping: so basically i bought a scooter :homme:

this thread is gonna be covered in hate but it was a neccerary purchase for me as im not gonna have my car in oxford till end of February and with graduating uni next week i want something to run about oxford in

so i saw this scooter on gumtree

advertised as taxed but one thing was it didnt start

ended up gettin it for £75 and put it in the back of some little van driven by a pikey cunt who i swear was still pissed he didnt even strap the bike up and it fuckin fell over smashing a wing mirror.

least say he didnt get much money for his work.

time to whore

pulled it on the drive

pulled it into the garage

stripped it down

then low n behold the thing started, to be honest not sure how i got it fired up but it now runs fairly well

took it round the road on the downlow n it started running better

however body work is rubishh need a respray as its chipping n peeling

oh yea an i stripped the screws in the belt cover

any one know how to sort this?

gonna paint it black silver and blue i think

what u all think

jeffchiz 9th December 2011 01:27

is that the kick start thats broken? if so iirc you take the big silver cover off and you gain access to the back of it and you can change it, i love mopeds! this is my old one :)

did an engine swap on this as well ha

GTuff 9th December 2011 01:31

yea man the kick start is broken but its starts off the button think it only jus needs the lever,

i cant get the belt cover off cus i may have stripped the screw heads the other day
but you can come round n desrestrict it and generally make it faste if you want as its only a 49er

:Y:

IanRyan 9th December 2011 01:46

Last scooter I had was a piaggio skipper st, least to say it didn't last long. I stripped it down and it never went back together lol, a lot harder to work on than I though so friggin fidly. Look good though mate :)

lol i never derestricted mine personally, the main restriction is the exhaust, you can modify your original one iirc, but it involves, cutting, drilling and welding a lot of faffing when you can buy a sport exhaust cheap enough but mine came with one, and then you have to take the washer out of the variator which i got my mate to do and i fitted some lighter rollers in there while it was in pieces as well which made it accelerate quicker, he also fitted me a high flow reed valve and a little k&n style air filter, made it sound less screechy lol was pretty nippy very happily get to 55mhp and on a duel carriage ways on a long straight i could reach over 60mph and happily overtake lorries lol on back roads i was doing cars! f**king loved it would love to have it back again but i sold it to a mate and he hit a tree, didnt look too bad but it got sold on to a few mates and now its lost probably been scrapped lol

EDIT: you can also get them re-jetted (fit bigger jets) and that makes them noticeably quicker, my mate had it done to his and his was faster than mine

yea i googled up how to make it quicker im gonna get it mot'd then try get it was quick as possible before i paint it, i think a sport exhaust is necessary but i dont a hugly loud chavvy one

gonna try get the variator done this weekend if i can get those burred screws off mabe do the rollers aswell

jeffchiz 9th December 2011 02:10

i had my variator done at a garage because when you try to undo it it just spins the variator, i shoved a spanner in the fins to stop it spinning and then the fins snapped :s lol so my mates garage used a air gun on it and it came straight off

GTuff 9th December 2011 02:13

hmm i wud do but dunno any one who works at a garage here in ox so i might jus risk it or mabe videojug will shed some light on the best ( and cheapest) way to do it, u gonna be workin on the 106 this weekend?

BertieG 9th December 2011 07:46

you'll need an impact wrench, the variator is attached to the crankshaft so trying to undo the bolt will just spin the crankshaft

Nice Project! I loved having a go on a scooter when I was in Zante! :p

To get the screws out get a nice sharp chisel put a nice grove on the top edge of the screw then using a flat blade screwdriver and hammer try to tap it round! If this doesn't work drill the head off and get some mole grips on the remaining thread to undo it! :y:
