Spraying Calipers!
I have a quick question , due to cold weather in UK, i spray them outside as i do not have a garage which i could put my car in haha, will the cold weather affect majorly to the result? as in will it affect the paint work etc.. ?
many thanks ! <3 |
yes it will mate... i wouldnt do it till it gets warmer or find a garage like a mates or something it would end up looking crap but then again no one will be lookin that close the the calipers so completely up to you, also depends on the paint you are using :y:
|
Dry brakes off, sand them down, clean them, mask up, use 2k calliper paint to paint them, use a heat source to dry them (heat gun) 10 mins they will be touch dry job done.
Yes weather affects the finish but as long as you keep them dry during the prep/paint process and get a touch dry finish with the heat gun they will be fine. |
use a heat gun and just keep it close on an extension cord it will be fine :y:

I painted my calipers with hammerite and they came out quite good. |
i was talking to a guy from a body shop hes been there for over 15 years now and he said it doesnt affect the overall finish of the paint it just makes to thinners evaporate longer so it should be fine mate as long as its dry and preped right

would you mind providing me a small step by step ? (: just a short one will do so i know what steps i should follow (: thanks!! |
Yeah no probs. I taken the whole caliper off to make things easier and make a better job. 1) clean caliper using petrol/thinners to remove any oil brake dust .2) rub down the caliper using a cut brush or emery paper, may take a while as they will be pretty rusty , I used a tub of battery acid to clean the hangers as it makes them super bare :-D 3) get a heater and warm the caliper up aswell as the paint and apply primer leave to dry around 15 mins 4) repeat step three and then apply top coat and leave again for 15 mins before your next coat 5) leave overnight to dry and assemble caliper making sure everything is nice and free. Put back on the car and get on with the next one .
