Saxo turbo on the cheap
Is there a way of running a basic turbo setup without the expensive management ?? Or is there cheaper options, and what sort of price, thanks guys
|
is there a way to rape a lass with her permission?
|
no such thing as "cheap" power.
Only way I can think of, is if you did all your own fabrication. have a little search. |

Also, does it count as rape if she says thank you? |
I like the first post, ur on the ball, I am going to do most work myself, my bro is a engineer and will hopefully get him to help with sum bits, I would fit all parts myself, it's just the general running of the engine, will it run on standard ecu? Is omex or similar the only option

Best of having a search around the form for turbo setups. You'll need to Re-map the ecu but you also need to take into account that with the potential adding more power and you might want to think about better breaks/suspension/cooling/chassis ect. Not as simple as bolting on a turbo. |
you can get what ever you want to run on what ever you want.
its just a case of research. |

only cheap way is mf2... which doesnt really work out cheap and is majorly inferior
|
Handling is sweet, I'm on spax down 35mm green stuff all-round , drilled and grooved discs, I'm running lower temp thermostat which did bring running temp down a little, I'm stripped with just two cobra clubmans and a spare in the back, i think it's ready for boost it's just a matter of budget, i have a ct9 turbo of a starlet, got a old mk1 vtr mani which I want to adapt to take the ct9, the oil feed can be done and the coolant feed, will have to have a place make me a Downpipe, the intercooler I can plumb in, but then I'm stuck as for management
|
I'd go for better brakes than green stuff! Go for a 306 gti-6 set up at the front!
|
cituning don't use management with their kits till the stage 3 kit, the rest are run on the standard ecu. The car i got with one on worked well without a mf2 not probs and was easy pushing about 160bhp.
Obviously with management etc you set your car up properly and saves you later down the road |
With running the standard ecu will I need bigger injectors? Wat bout these map sensors? Does the standard ecu need chipping/remapping, wat was the setup u was running then without the mf2, thanks
|
its was a citing stage 1 kit so mani, gt17 turbo, down pipe, manual controller, pipe to air filter and a pipe from turbo to TB thats it,
|
You must run management, citunings way has to increase the fuel some way, either by a standard ecu remap or some mod, Otherwise it would just be running silly hot as its to much air. And probs blow up.
I'm selling mf2,sigcon, + 5th injector, and elbow for 200 posted. As blackie says, it's not great, but it boosted me to 8psi and my afr was perfect. Also instructions included. I'm only selling as I want more power and mf2 is limited to around 10psi max. You can get a low blow kit for less than 1300 quid all in. I reckon I could mock one up for...1000 and give you change. That's with fitting it yourself. So 1000 for around about 60-80 hp on a vtr lump. Never cheap lol. |
As said VERY basic yes, I think what i've got in my garage is a 440cc injector & a microswitch (5th injector set up, so when throttle touches it, it will dump more fuel in inlet overfuelling/running rich but better than running lean & melting a piston! But no way am I running this, a very inaccurate method, and it won't get the best out of your set up (power or delivery)
Standard ECU cannot see positive map pressure I.e. Above 0psig or 14.7psia and coupled with the extortionate amount it costs to remap, yet the predator is only slightly more & has so many more features & trialed/tested on other cars turbo/NA & supercharged iirc Cheapest way MF2 & sigcon + 5th injector some people have run this fine with no problems. Piggyback Dastek Uni chip with boost module, slightly better and can be mapped Aftermarket ECU many available Predator (Megasquirt) OMEX, DTA, EMERALD etc.. |
With the mf2/ 5 th injector setup would the standard ecu still need to of been chipped, I would snap up a predator quick time if only it was for a single plug vtr, they seen to be very good value for money, seems that even if went for mf2 kit would prob cost the same as pred once mapped and intune, and stevo would love to see a mock list of ur low b kit for a grand, it sounds like great bhp per nugget spent, also I'm running a piper285 cam I've got the silvertop mk1 engine would this cam be redundant if went boost, would I be better of putting standard one in, only say this cos seen cam specifically for boost engines
|
I believe a high lift cam like the one you have is not the most desirable thing to have fitted to a turbo application

It can be done cheap... my kit is going to got me 2k bearing in mind this included a 600 quid remap and a 550 quid dta ecu :y:
Am I correct in thinking you can run a very small turbo at 6-7psiwith bigger injectors for a week or 2? |
