Cammed 8v or Cammed 16v?

I got a 106 rallye making it into a track day car are thinking what is the best root to go down?

16v but would get a fully rebuilt one witch has had head work done it more power as standed at 120bhp(ish) then set of the new cat cams 743 so probs be making about 150bhp(ish) with good breatha mods Then again it would de value the car as I think it would hold it value more if it was 8v with work done to it....

My 8v in there at the moment on 97k witch is ok for an R reg and it is still pully well got a s1 inlet on it runs like pooo:homme: but got a rolling road about " weeks ago and it got 118.7 bhp witch i thought was very good as standed they are 103 bhp. So if I get head work done to that plus some 645 or 646 cams and good breatha mods will maybe see 130bhp(ish)

Just wanna see what you people think is the best thing as in power really? surely the 16v?

No matter what you do, the 16v will always be faster. It has 8 more valves. Its entirely your choice, you seem to want to carry on with your 8v engine the way this thread is produced. So why not have a go?

Either way, what will you be more satisfied with doing?

Easier to get more power outa the 16v, at the end of the day a quicker hot hatch is more desireable. Id rather work towards full potential than do things by halves to conserve originality. I dont think it would devalue it much, but then again thats from my perspective of just being interested in the mods rather than the originality

Yeh thats what i think the 16v has more power as standed so would make sence to cam then:geek:

sam_16v 30th January 2012 17:23

16v ftw

Ryan 30th January 2012 17:24

bin the 8v.

Ashleyp 30th January 2012 17:31

Why would you even consider the 8v? lol

MiniGibbo 30th January 2012 17:34

16v will make more power out the bag and will make more power in the long run for less money.

8v is great for pub bragging rights.

Tom5190 30th January 2012 17:34

same power in a 16v = alot less cost. If it did de-value the car slightly im sure it wouldnt be more than what you saved from putting the 16v in

See know everyone in my thread is saying keep 8v:wacko:
But mine at 118.7 bhp right and my mates vts is 134bhp and mine has the edge ever time over him:zainy:

luk3matth3ws 30th January 2012 17:48

i'd keep the 8v purely because all i seem to see is 16v's

MiniGibbo 30th January 2012 17:54

a 143hp saxo is faster than a 120hp 106..

Unless he was carrying four fat chicks and yours is compeltly gutted that didnt happen.

Saxos have been around 15 years.

Do you feel in that time 8vs had not been done to death?

Everyone uses the 16v unit these days when starting because its better.

Yeah this makes massive amounts of sense, thinking about keeping my Playstation 2 simply because all I seem to see is PS3's nowadays!

16v is a more powerful engine as standard, it makes little sense to keep the 8v
