Any boxers on here?

So who does boxing on here? I personally love it. Great fun, teaches you discipline and keeps you fit :)

langy88 10th February 2012 12:55

I used to do mauy Thai but I had to give it up because of work commitments, I regret giving it up.

Do you fight (in the ring) or just to keep fit?

Nates-VTR 10th February 2012 12:58

Muay thai looks good :y:

My mate has just got his pro licence afer ten years boxing, so he trains me all the time :) No fights at the minute, will be soon though.

dannygti 10th February 2012 13:59

Done a bit of training myself never boxed though.
4 of my good friends are now professional boxers.
Ryan Aston, Richard Ghent, tommy Ghent, Lee glover. My mate Ryan is boxing on sat :)

Not boxing but used to do a lot of Muay Thai and the occasional BJJ session..

It's great imo, very physical and strength based especially when grappling (it's so tiring)

Would end up with some absolute shiners from training never mind sparring, all very good fun though!

Actually starting back soon however finding a new trainer as my old fighting club has gone downhill apparently..

JamesR 10th February 2012 16:18

Something like Tang Soo Do or TKD would be great to implement into tricking! - See this!

Kickboxed for a few years.

Done MMA on and off.

Was going to get into it properly in the summer but I'm going to do Krav Maga instead, the ultimate to real fighting

Was about 4 times a week for a long time, started Ju Jitsu (Japanese) as well about a year ago so it's down to 2 nights a week, I've had a couple of bouts yeah :)

Dizzy 11th February 2012 20:31

I do Muay Thai. Started out western boxing and got bored, tried MMA and couldnt risk the injuries so now I train pure Muay Thai. Hope to have a pro fight before the end of the year :)

Thanks for the link man!

Just starting it really, used to be a gymnast for like 11 years so seems easy to move to, however it sort of goes against everything i have been taught!

Good fun though!

This type of thing is what really pisses me off....

As far as i can work out most of the above are not 'boxers' or 'mma fighters' all you do is occasionally hit a punch bag or have a wrestle with a mate. No1 has gone toe to toe with someone with the potential to get knocked out.

Sorry to be seen to be havin a go but in life it seems if your not a boxer your a professional football player. Wheres karl pilkington aka bullshit man when ya need him.

p.s. I did boxing at uni last year, i trained. did bagwork, spa'd with other lads. Am i a boxer? No and neither are most of the above.

McGuire86 12th February 2012 15:12

Who are you directing that at ??

666saxo666 12th February 2012 16:31

No1 in particular. Im just generalising. People may have boxed properly in this thread. But im just sayin there is a major difference between hitting a punch bag and goin toe to toe with someone.

Dizzy 12th February 2012 16:34

I dont think anyone on here claims to be a fighter of any description. Everyone posted has said they train a specific art but thats it. I think I'm the only competing fighter, and even I didn't say I'm a fighter?
