Dual Rear Fog Light Mod How To

How to get both rear fog lights working if you only have one.

Not sure if this has been done before, but thought I would put some pics up and some very basic instructions.

Remove both light clusters with the screw in the boot, and pull forward the light cluster to remove.

Unplug both connectors using a flat blade screw driver pressing in on the metal tag and store light cluster safe.

On the near side (passenger side) you will notice there is a wired pin missing in pin number 6 on the plug.

Insert a wire into pin 6 and secure to loom, any colour wire will do, I used dark Green.

Tape up to the existing loom using PVC tape or similar.
Run the wire into the car the same way the existing loom is, you will need to remove the air vent panel in the boot (1 X Phillips screw) to gain access.

Run your wire down the boot floor and through the off side vent hole, back out of the car to the off side light loom.

You will notice the plugs are wired differantly on both sides, the wire colour you want is Grey (Pin 2) Strip off the insullation and splice into the Grey wire. Tape up all connections.

Insert a bulb into the near side fog light hole and put the car back together.

You should be left with Dual fog lights:drink:

Both reverse lights still work as they should.

My car is 2003, I pressume the wiring is the same on all ages but you would need to double check everything if your wiring colours are differant to mine or is a MK1.

Hope this is usefull;)

Never going to do it but that's a great guide. Very explanatory.

I thought on the bulb holder that there was just a plastic strip that you cut then insert the bulb,as the wiring is already there mate?

There was no power going into that side of the bulb holder that I could see.

As above, that is all that is necessary. Remove light, break plastic off, put bulb in. Job done.

piranhamatt 12th March 2012 20:22

Couldnt just splice off the working foglight one then and thread a long cable?

Fulch 12th March 2012 20:41

That is basicly what you are doing yes.

Nick_Bush 15th March 2012 11:10

Putting a bulb in and it working straight away means you have the correct wiring already, mine did not.

It sounds to me like there are differant wiring looms on differant age saxos.

Mines a 2003 reg and like yours only one fog works even though there was already a fog bulb on right side. I changed it too. Now i know of this wire i shall look later and look into dual fog guide above
