rust and water

was in the boot today and lifted the carpet cause i lost a spanner under it some how lol but theres alot of wet on the fiberglass lookin stuff and just on the right of the boot where it joins the floor and goes up theres a little bit of rust, i got a picture but cba to put it on but will if it will help, is this a big problem i got here?:panic:

Prickle 22nd March 2012 22:06

Post a pic.

It will be a hole. Prev owners obv didnt rinse out the back archs enough giving you this problem..

Stuart85VTR 22nd March 2012 22:08

It could be your bootlid seal or it might be coming from tne light cluster. I've the same on the 106, the seals on the light clusters aren't the best. I've heard people use bathroom sealant on the to stop the water getting in or drilling holes in the bottom of the clusters

OMGASAXO 22nd March 2012 22:10

ill put a pic up in a few mins its so much effort haha but its deffo not the lights

DanTvts 22nd March 2012 22:10

Common place for rust, i would still put the picture up so we can have a look. Can't really be sure how big a problem you have until you check the whole area properly, nothing that can't be sorted though.

Stuart85VTR 22nd March 2012 22:19

This is mine :(

You can see the damp where it runs along

Not long ago when it rained heavy i went out to the car on my lunch only to find a puddle in the dipped part in the back. Luckily had a microfibre in the car to soak it up lol

tony5haw1988 22nd March 2012 22:22

thats a nice hole there. hate rust!

Stuart85VTR 22nd March 2012 22:32

The hole is meant to be there as it is the same on the other side. The other side has no rust, or signs of it at all! I have sanded down the rust but i will need to treat it. Makes me want the VTR back as she was immaculate!

OMGASAXO 22nd March 2012 22:36

My rust looks like nothing to this lol

OMGASAXO 22nd March 2012 22:53

Well if it gets taken back an treated it should. As for the material i just added that so it looks better lol. Give the archs a good scrub easp right at the top and back to the paint incase theres any hidden underneath.

OMGASAXO 22nd March 2012 23:04
