New site now live....

Well some of you in this section know my work and what I do. Well after too many years of existing without a web presence its finally live.

http://www.ryandinham.co.uk/index.php

Think I may need to reduce the file sizes though as it may be slowing down the site/loading a touch. Im sure ill change my mind again about what i want on there next week :wall:

Takes years to load!

Photos look very good though

Ryan 26th March 2012 05:31

What browser are you running on etc?

My iPad and iPhone the loading takes longer than on mac.

Loading are around 6/7 seconds for the gallery on the pad and about half that on my main system. All info is useful at this stage.

Brettles1986 26th March 2012 08:24

Tbh mate using my iPhone and I have up with it taking so long to load

Paul 26th March 2012 08:48

Internet explorer / oldish laptop. takes over 30 seconds to load first page.

Most websites load up straight away for me.

Baz 26th March 2012 11:33

loaded up within 2 seconds for me

AshC 26th March 2012 11:42

Took about 25 seconds for me on a Mac, could be shitty uni internet though.

rey 26th March 2012 11:47

Loaded up ~10seconds on my iPhone through wifi, will try on my mac later.

Jack 26th March 2012 11:50

The 'about me' section should be titled 'About Ryan', seeing as you are talking in 3rd person about Ryan. It didn't take too long to load for me, a bit longer than a normal website.

knight-22 26th March 2012 12:08

Well it all loaded up straight away for me, using firefox. Very smart looking site aswell mate! And im sure you dont need to be told, but seriously awesome photos! :y:

Ryan 26th March 2012 15:04

Have run some tests using net speed calculators, page loading times varied between 2 and 8 seconds depending on world location.

Will have a tweak though see if I can drop them without dropping the iq of the photos. I did suspect that there may be an issue after I put the files on today.

Ryan 26th March 2012 16:07

Home page should load faster now as ive cut the file sizes in half. Other galleries still using 800kb-1mb files. Drop in IQ on home images hopefully isnt too noticable.

Brettles1986 26th March 2012 16:56

Just had a look, still takes a short while to load (at work that is on a 2mb connection) but alot better, website itself looks great though

Jamie 27th March 2012 01:19

I have to say Ryan it looks bang on.

Took a while to load but my internet is from the stone age, it was worth the wait.

Did you design and code or use an independent company?

Cheers dude. I've lightened the images on the home page but still need to drop them down size wise in order to get it to pick up. The other galleries are still mega slow as I'll sort them when I've sorted the home so I know what works for speed.

Site was built by an old school friend, the 'mrtomstone creation' I'm fucking clueless when it comes to computers. He's built the whole back end so all I need to do is login to FTP and add photos to each photo group folder so that's a nice and easy for me.

Thanks for the feedback people, obviously want to do a big roll out on mine and some of my clients social feeds with it so trying to get the little bugs etc ironed out now.

GolfJay 27th March 2012 09:06

Takes about 5 seconds to load a page which isn't bad to be honest.

Just went through your club photos and after the initial 5 second page load everything worked perfectly.

JoshB 27th March 2012 15:14

Timed at 17.3 seconds to fully load the homepage on iPhone 3GS running iOS5.1 on 3 bars of 3G signal. Not bad at all really.

Page looks smart, the only slight critique I'd give it is some of those crowd shots on the home page slideshow don't look particularly "professional", might put off more high end clients.

Ryan 27th March 2012 15:56

How do you mean not exactly professional? They are images from my high end clients. Are you referring to the shot itself or the grain in the file?

m3wood 27th March 2012 16:10

looks awsome :)

JoshB 27th March 2012 17:56

It's totally dependant on the type of clientele you're I trying to attract, I just don't think a close up of a drunken teenager is the best image to advertise on the homepage. It's just my opinion of course!

The layout and graphics of the site work well and it really looks the part.
