My possi blue vts (track car)

hey guys and girls!!

Been lurking around for about a month or 2 browsing about and thought its about time I started a progress thread for my ph1 possi blue vts track car!

Bought the car totally standard locally, was stood for around 4 months because the exhaust was blowing and the boy couldnt afford to run it! Also it had a de-cat in the boot and the boy was like ' its part of the exhaust but dont know what it is', I was well happy and acted dull but said il keep it and also in the glove box was a griffiths engineering short shift which he didnt have a clue what it was for had been left by the previous owner to him so again another bargain! Its got 96k on the clock in fair condition for the year, with a month MOT left on it, I gave £250 for it!

Heres a pic of it when i first got it!

So the work began as soon as i got it home,

Leaving me with this

Fitted the decat pipe and short shift linkage too! :D
I then bought a sparco front upper strut brace and fitted a raceland induction kit

Because its a track car i wanted it to stand out as much as possible on track so i gave the wheels a much needed refurb! (excuse the ride height just let off the jack)

I then bought some apex 40mm springs for now until the shockers need replacing (not yet fitted so no pic)

Found a pair of cobra monaco s buckets with sparco harnesses for a price i could not refuse but were red and in need of some tlc which I later on sorted out heres before

plan was to sort them out and turn them black heres 50/50

fully dyed with an insert in the base because of a bad tear!

I had the seats fitted on saturday heres a pic of the frames being welded up ready for the seats

Seats all bolted with harnesses fitted!

Picked up brand new drilled and grooved front and rear discs for £40 (not yet fitted)

Thats all for now but more to come soon, on my plan list is:
-exhaust (manifold and back box)
-pads (ferodo ds2500)
-roll cage
-poly windows

Thanks for looking!! more to come shortly :D

Gandi699 8th May 2012 01:25

Yeah this looks like the start of a good build, what did you use to colour the seats?

Dano 8th May 2012 01:31

What dye did you use on the seats dude?

ashleymvts 9th May 2012 16:37

The dye is SIMPLY SPRAY upholstery dye can be found on eBay! Needed 2 coats all over, and it doesn't change the feel either!

Dean-VTR 9th May 2012 17:07

looking decent mate. nice touch to the seats :)

ashleymvts 10th June 2012 21:42

Some more progress on the car.

Custom made these for the doors

put it for MOT came out needing a bolt on strut top, rear shock was loose, o/s/r fog light bulb was out tyre below minimum tread and need a little bit of welding on the chassis leg, turned out better than I thought :)

Now all the work is done, back in for re-test then to fit my new purchase...... a 3" pugsport full system and then flush the exhaust recess on the bumper. Got it at a total steal of a price that simply could not be left! pics to follow soon!

Havent made much effort to update my thread until now, few things have been done and some things removed too, done a few track days in her and shes held up really well and suprised me to say the least.

Got the door cards fitted with the grab handles

Bought a bargain of a show cage for £30

fitted a net for the helmets and to keep things in whilst travelling to track

I then got it lowered

thats about it for progress on the car atm

Rich84 6th August 2013 19:33

Lose the showcage mate, it'll do more damage than good if you have a smash

ashleymvts 6th August 2013 19:39
