vtr/vts budget project-started.........
 
heres my on a budget project picked this car up local to me, its a 52 plate vtr with a vts engine fitted also from what i can see it has bilstein suspension fitted and a quickshift of unkown make fitted so far ive stripped out the whole car bar the dash (106 gti leather not need) and assesd what needs doing to get it moted and on the road heres a few pics- more to follow









as you can see quality wiring by the previous owner

so far exhaust blowing altenator not charging and runs on 2 cylinders, so ive changed fuel filter plugs coil pack thermostat both temp sensors and seen it needs the following doing at least for mot:
drop links
track rod ends
anti roll bar bushes
rear engine mount
front brakes and hoses
rear load valve seized solid
lower arm bushes
fuel filter strap

number plate lamps were missing as were all the brake disc screws and the top mount nuts were all odd!! some people need shooting why bodge when there pence from dealer, same with rear beam parts they were odd bolt etc bodged in makeing the rear arb float all over the place making the axle appear knakered

full janspeed aquired from ebay inc decat for £42-bargain will have that here monday also aquired a set of 5 cyclones and a gti6 master cylinder and front brake set up for £140 for the lot so combined with a set of braided lines and some decent discs and pads it should stop fairly well need to get the wheels powder coated now and some toyos on i think

budget yeah wont cut corners, but with house and young son family car this will be done as and when with good quality parts, yeah time have change i look back now and think wtf was i thinking!!

Fitted the new antiroll bar links and powerflex arb bushes yest to find some one has already cross threaded 1 of the bolts so another thing to add to the list more pics later today

also couldnt fit my rear engine mount as housing is egg shaped, so glad i work for a motorfactors

Good stuff, with a bit of extra power / lightening these saxo's are still great track toys :)
