new engine build

just built a new engine for my oval track car, which has to use standard parts

02 vtr bottom end 1600 xsi head and j cam rallye inlet xsi ecu,

standard xsi down pipe

forced induction etc

i used the rocker rollers off a mk2 vtr but have rad on here not to use them, why is that ?

what sort of power will that be ok for?

thanks

Most cam manufactures only produce very mild cams for the roller rockers as they are not as robust as the solid ones. I have had solid lifters over 9000rpm with no issues.

As for power on standard engines its not really down to what parts you use but how well everything is done. I have seen a "standard" VTR genuinely produce well over 120bhp. But you could easily end up with less power then standard just buy mixing bits and bobs.

I used a 2002 bottom end with the .75 crowned pistons. then an early head with z02 printed on it. skimmed it to 110.5 thick not sure how much i took off. then cleaned every thing spotless. running on an omex ecu. got it mapped at a well known rolling road and got 124.9 using standard exhaust manifold and all standard inlet system too
