VTS purchased wot to do now?
thought id best start a thread ready for when i start work on the vts.
Covered 86k loads of history and runs sweet as a nut. The to do list starts now- the car is booked to have the rear torsion bar sorted as the car seems to sit about 10mm lower drivers side. (i hope its the torsion bar lol) seal sun roof strip the car bare possibly underseal it. change gear linkages. fit new front discs and pads braided brake lines full service source an exhaust have a supersprint in mind and im collecting a 4-2-1 manifold in a weeks time. re-locate the battery in the rear (is this a difficult job?) opinions welcome il have pics up tomorrow. |
Post photos. Then sit back and wait for "needs lowering" comments :)

supposed to be having someone look at the torsions bars next weekend to raise the back end slightly also on the way home from collecting the car my mate said it seemed to crab to the side alittle. could this be uneven torsion bars? how hard is it to adjust them?
|
could be some complete asshat lowered it using the notch method and the sides are uneven. When they're out and the car is lowered properly, reassess.
|
It certainly looks on the piss even from those dull pics.

yeh a few people have said that, hopfully getting it in somwhere this weekend. or even tomorrow lol anyone knows anywhere near stoke let me know, been quoted around £80
cheers |
80 isnt bad if its not done notches
im not hugely far in nuneaton done quite a few i could take a look if you want no point spending out raising it if the beam is dead |
thats exactly wot i was thinking about the beam. iv found a lad local to me in astbury near congleton who is going have a ganders for me. dropping it off next thursday. meanwhile this weekend- picking up a 4-2-1 manifold doing a direct swap for my civic mani. heat wrapping it ready to be fitted when i get myself a supersprint exhaust (no rush) full interior strip then put drivers seat back in for transit. give engine bay a good clean then go about servicing it. how hard is it to change gear box oil in these?

cheers gandi, engine oil is straight forward enough im guessing. best spark plugs for the vts? or just basic ones?

Most people on here use the NGK spark plugs I think. Dont go with the super 4's though, they didn't do my saxo much good and i soon swapped them for normal ones. |
ok sweet think thats all i need for this weekend. good job iv got my own little joey helping me! anyone recommend a good engine oil for the vts?
|
5W40 though 10W40 is good enough, I do recommend Shell helix but for cheaper the autoparts oil would do the job for this winter. I'd say also have a quick check on the aerial so you don't get leaks.

cheers for the comments. now time for the hard work. finish work in an hour and straight down to my garage and stay till sunday firstly putting my ep3 civic back standard as iv sold most of my mods to improve mpg as it will now be my daily and the saxo is my slag. Then start stripping and servicing the saxo. then drop it off to the lads who are sorting the back end. fingers crossed it is just one side lowered more than the other. the garage is a 40 minute drive from my house but removes temptation of the pub with the lads and its free! full electric and heating spot on!! once again thanks and im sure il be in touch over the weekend.
|
nice car, shame about the 1 side lower than the other hopefully you sort it out. question, how does it feel driving a civic type r then jumping into a saxo vts?
