292Bhp Chevvy

Please don't hate me

Needed a cheap car and this came up:

Paid £1925 for it.

The car is immaculate.

06 Plate (so car in pic is not my actual car but is the same colour)
59,000 Miles
Full service history

Has full leather, Aircon, Cup holders etc.

Old Japanese technology therefore seemes worth the punt and other than the fact that it is slow as shit I really like it.

Plans:

40mm Lowering kit
Upgrade lighting to LED and brighter headlight (Osram nightbreakers)
Wheels to go anthracite (Possibly)
Clear side repeater lenses
Upgrade standard speakers

Cue abuse!

Dat Chevy

I think

Brettles1986 9th January 2013 13:50

Tis indeed, the plan is to keep it (fingers crossed) until my loan finishes which will then allow me to look for something better.

I have to be honest though, it surprised me on its features for such a low end motor.

You say you needed a cheap car but paid near on 2 grand, thats not a cheap car haha

Cheap in terms of running and maintenance costs I mean (the fact that it is a hell of a lot younger than any of my previous cars leads me to believe it will be more reliable *fingers crossed*), £2000 isn't exactly bank breaking but neither is it a feeble amount.

Oh sweet Jesus Brett, what have you done...

thats a very good point lol
for a cheap motor id get a £500 106 diesel tbh! for which you would have already saved £1500 on the price of the car

They are reliable but they hold their value well, i.e a MK4 Golf TDI in good condition on around 100K will still cost in the region of £2K

I agree that my street rep has taken a hit, having said that I drive it to work and back only, any other time I walk as everything is close by.

Only time will tell if it has actually been a reliable car.

Giraffe 9th January 2013 13:58

I don't understand. You've posted a picture of a Chevrolet Kalos by mistake I think mate.

There's no banter to be had mate, I'm just disappointed. Hopefully it will do what you want it to, that's all there is really to be said. Not what I'd have chosen, but each to their own.

I put it down to getting old and boring around 40 years early!

Not a clue right now, it didn't even enter my mind at time of purchase as it has the wheels in the picture already.

In an ideal world I would have it dumped on coilies with some BBS RS's and a touch of negative camber.

On a side note I just bought some of this for it:

So you buy a Volvo, or a Jag... Not a Chevrolet!

As for modifying it... Don't, just don't.

I don't want to be paying through the arse for insurance but I see your point.

To address the Chevrolet comment also, Chevrolet is a rebranded Daewoo for the British market, with Daewoo being Japanese and Japanese cars being reliable, i'm hoping this proves to be a wise purchase.

knight-22 9th January 2013 14:16

Oh jesus, your actually modifying it? Do you really want to attract attention to it..

I feel bad for you mate, pm me your address and i'll buy these for you.

i'd save for a decent car to mod tbh
dont waste any more money on it, it was already an expensive car to start with :D
