Guy martin. Done BBC shows like "the boat that guy built" and the recent restoration series he did. Assuming it is Guy Martin. I'm guessing purely on you comment of chops.

Are you aware that he is looking do to the TT / Manx Grand Prix?? :homme:

Right, well. Bit of a split opinion on that I'm afraid. The reporter started with a very negative attitude all about how you could die and he didn't see why anyone would want to do anything like that.

I felt the negativity continued through the whole thing, everything was all about how dangerous it was and how worried he was about people not making it back alive. IE when he was sat with Gary Johnsons mother. Just because Gary had not returned, the reporter instantly jumped to the conclusion that the worst had happened. "I know how organisers play it". That's probably a valid statement at a "normal" event, but as he had been saying through the entire thing, the TT is not part of the "norm" so I thought it ridiculous he would say things like that, when it is his first ever time visiting the island.

Even when he spoke to marshalls, the way the interview was done showed the marshal just saying how he does it for the better viewing spots. Not the fact he is a vital part in a huge event, ie how with out the team of marshalls it wouldn't go ahead.

I also didn't like the fact there was not one mention of the sidecar boys. The do exactly the same as the solo riders, granted not as fast, but still, they deserve the respect and publicity that comes with this race. I do understand why there was no mention, as the reporter was a solo bike rider, so he would be bias towards the solo bikes. (my opinion on sidecars has changed somewhat recently  )

I felt it was a report on how unsafe the TT was, as opposed to how incredible it is and what a majorly incredible fucking awesome event it truely is. BUT, I always just get all excited whenever I watch anything about the TT, so I still enjoyed it, and some of the slow mo shots are just awesome.

Yes, it's dangerous, BUT, none of the riders are being made to do it, they know the risks and that is the reason they do it.

So there, that is my very long winded opinion.

Cheers for posting - enjoyed that documentary tbh! :)

I think Guy Martin made a good point when he said "If you crash around here, 9/10 you're dead - and that's a buzz." He might be a bit of a character but I think knowing that you're putting it on the line is what makes it such an adrenaline rush.

Has anyone watched TT3D: Closer To The Edge before? My Dad bought it home one day and I thought it was going to be rubbish - my GOD I was wrong. Link for the trailer is: if anyone's interested - Guy Martin was in that as sort of the main character.

One thing that documentary did make me want to have a responsible play on those roads... haha
