Ash's MK1 saxo 1.1 to VTS conversion

So here i have my mk1 P reg 1.1 saxo, i origionally bought it as a run about first car completely standard for £500 with 52,000 on the clock one owner from new.
as time has gone on i have grown very fond of it and therefore decided to keep it!

Apologies for the wheels, everybody makes bad choices sometimes lol.

So far pretty standard, bar the grill and the smoked headlights.

i bought a donor vts which was overheating for £200 which i thought was a bargain considering it was just a thermostat which cost £7 + some coolant to fix :D

engine coming out

Engine out and all oily (cant wait to clean it up!)

empty vts engine bay!

new rided height :)

This is where i am at so far, ive ordered my gaz coilovers which should be here this week and so should the reconditioned beam ;)
cheers for reading feel free to comment and ill keep you guys updated as progress continues :D

flat arch vts, love it, what a sleeper lol, my furio is currently in for a vts conversion :)

i like this, but i have a soft spot as my 1st car was an amazon green mk1 flatty too :)

saxoashlaughton 4th February 2013 20:09

cheers mate, i plan on keeping it looking pretty standard on the outside bar vts wheels, i never used to like the colour but it has certainly grown on me :)

Tom5190 4th February 2013 20:11

Looks good, what else are you taking of the vts?

saxoashlaughton 4th February 2013 20:17

Engine, gearbox, loom inside + out, ecu, brakes, arb, lower arms, arb, front struts ( converting to coilovers), rear beam components (getting reconditioned beam), fuel tank + pump and fuel return probably missed some things haha.

This is awesome, my mate just converted my old 106 runaround to a vtr, was good fun and a good learning curve! I'm just jealous cause you've done what I wanted to do to my flat arch lol, keep us posted mate looks good :D

saxoashlaughton 5th February 2013 20:11

Quick update guys, my reconditioned rear axle arrived today from IM axle specialists

Lowered 50mm, we shall see if its low enough :-)

bobertmate 6th February 2013 02:22

Beam looks so good! 50mm will be fine for a flatty imo

saxoashlaughton 6th February 2013 08:12

Cheers, yea I think it will to, I want it to sit nice but also be at the right height for good handling :)

bobertmate 6th February 2013 17:41

My saxo's on 60mm springs but as its an 8v its probably 5o odd, with the back to match, no arch gap though and handles like a go kart lol

saxoashlaughton 6th February 2013 17:44

Yea Ill see how it goes, if its to high then ill just lower it more, as it should be easy to adjust as its been refurbed :-)

saxoashlaughton 11th February 2013 18:12

Update, coilovers have arrived :)

So i got home from work today to find a parcel has been delivered :)

Was so pleased that it had finally come

saxoashlaughton 11th February 2013 19:59

Going to be keeping a very close eye on this thread as I am intending to get a VTS engine and stick it into my VTR :D
I'm sure there is a thread on here about which parts are best to transfer across, but you are using a 1.1 shell, so I'm guessing you're taking all the body kit too?
