Martijn's 106 Rallye

Hello there,

After some looking around and reading a couple of topics, you seem like a fun bunch of guys 'n girls so i thought i'd make my own topic.

Some history:

My first car, an S1 Rallye.

Really loved that car. Had the S2 engine with the S1 head and intake manifold. Was chipped and remapped. Max rev was at 83000rpm:zainy:

But i had some bad luck with it... First my head gasket blew, i decided to get the whole head rebuild so everything was fresh. Then a month later i had somre more bad luck.

A women didn't see me coming, so she just turned onto the intersection. :( End of my S1 Rallye. Got money from the insurance company, sold the rest of the car and started saving up a bit. 2 months later i bought another Rallye, an S2 this time.

It was all stock, only had a Pugsport exhaust. Pictures tell more then words:

My first ever Nürburgring lap.

Then had some work done. Lowered the front, different exhaust manifold, Airbox and green filter. Went to a dyno meet.

Did 103bhp/137,7nm at the wheels. Was quite happy with the result!

Random pic:

Went on a holiday, drove to Italy and Monaco. Experienced the fun of owning a French car:

While being somewhere in Italy it stalled and didn't want to start... Not sure what we did, but 2 hours later it started again!

Then went to Monaco...

TDC sensor = Dead:wall:

Got the car back a week later as they didn't have the right parts. Picked up the car in Nice and went back to Monaco, had some nice company in the parking there.

Random Italy photo

On the St. Bernardino Pass

At the end of last year i had the chance to buy bucket seats and harnesses for a nice price, so i went for it! Already had the QSP deep-dish wheel for a while.

Got a quickshift a little later:

Other mods:
- Upper and lower strut brace
- Simota Oil Catch Can
- Yellow valve cover yo!

Still to do:
- Get my Peugeot Sport banner sorted.
- Get a cage.:wall:
- Bilstein B12s / Eibach Sportline
- Group N gear linkages
- More laps on the Nürburgring

That's it for now :)
Cheers!

Looking good, makes a change to see one thats still on the original tu5j2 as well.

Shame about the black one though, can I just ask though why you swapped the s1 head onto the s2 bottom end in it? Both are more or less the same I believe unless other work was done

Martijn_M 28th February 2013 16:10

Forgot to add the mandatory engine shot:

Have to tidy this up...

And just noticed i said the pass was the St. Bernardino, but it was actually the Grand St. Bernard. The St. Bernardino is awesome aswell!

This will never be 16v'd :D

Yeah, i still miss it. It has been rebuild by the guy who bought it though. But for me it would be a waste to spend that much money on it.

Well, i actually bought it with the S2 engine and the S1 head already. Some say the cam is a bit different, other say everything is the same. The S1 intake manifold was on there aswell. It made around 110bhp with the chip.

Lovely car, and I'm seriously impressed with your English.
Have you spent any time over here or did you just pay attention at school?

Gandi699 28th February 2013 16:16

Good man for keeping the 8v, I think these cars will be worth more with the original engines still fitted in the future.
As far as I'm aware its exactly the same head with J cam, but I've read that the s1 heads are generally finished a bit better as standard than the S2 though although this may be hearsay.
Its a shame the 1600 s2 got the plastic inlet manifold as standard though

I'm also seriously impressed with your level of English. I'd say it's better than the majority of the forum. Nice car(s) as well.

Thanx!
I went to an International school during high school. So had almost all subjects in English.

Totally agree. In my opinion, if you want a 16v, buy a GTI. :p Mine probably won't have much value as it's over 200k km now. (Around 120k miles.) Don't have intentions of ever selling it anyway.
I agree about the manifold. I might change it for an S1 manifold. Or get ITB's later...:p

Very tidy looking Rallye :)

Im guessing you will use Trackday parts for lots of your items? Id reccomend him if not as hes a very nice chap and knows his stuff!

Martijn_M 28th February 2013 16:29

Yep. Arnold is a really nice guy and his prices are good. :)

Alles wat je nu nodig hebben is een rolkooi. Trololololol.

Looks to be a very nice S2 you have there! Proper jealous of living in Europe too. It must be awesome to holiday just by driving over the border and enjoying some of the nicest parts of Europe. Good luck with your project mate :y:
