Seized exhaust stud nuts
 

Hi all. Not a saxo prob but i need to get the cat off my 1.9tdi audi. Thing is the nuts aint budging even after being heated and drenched in WD40. If i snap the studs can they be drilled out of the turbo, re-tapped and new 1s fitted?

Sounds like theyre destin to snap regardless bud. Can probably drill the snapped bolts out of the turbo but youd have to be very careful. Make sure you drill staight etc. .

Try plusgas...works wonders. but if the studs DO snap and you're not comfortable in drilling and retapping yourself, try a local engineers whos got a spark eroder. They've just done 3 steel studs that were snapped in an alloy bottom yolk on a bike we bought

I COULD have had a go at it myself but it only has to drift off slightly into the alloy and its ruined. With spark erosion they can cut a hex head into the remainindr of the stud and then use that to take it out
