VTR progress thread
Wasn't really sure a progress thread was for me seen as I don't generally do a lot to cars, but this one may be different so thought why not!
This is the first Citroen I've ever owned, so obviously the first saxo I've owned. I have however had a large array of cars that I've gone through in my 5 years of driving: - 4 x Fiestas (cheap to run, cheap to insure and even cheaper to fix) - Peugeot 306 (officially the worst car I've owned.. Personal opinion) - Renault Megane (good but mounts break easily) - Ford Mondeo (my old diesel shed) - Renault Clio (nippy little thing) - Seat Ibiza (bought for £150) - BMW 316 (I loved this car) - BMW 318 (big engine, sluggish standard power) - Mercedes C180 (cruiser car) - Toyota MR2 (rapid, very rapid but a sh*t to repair) - Fiat Stilo (electric problem galore) And now my saxo. So.. If you're still with me.. Well done! Anyway.. I just bought a mk2 VTR for the sum of £400. A bargain in my opinion, especially with tax until Feb and MOT until Jan. Totally standard apart from BK racing rims. Only work that needed doing (so I thought) was drop link, lambda sensor and few bodywork issues. Well.. Drop links have been done and lambda sensor will be getting done. However, it appears a potential driveshaft issue has arisen and the wheels need balancing.. That just the start it seems! I'll be doing bits and bobs over the next few weeks/months so make sure you watch this thread :y:. When I figure out how to add pics I will.. Unless someone fancies telling me how to do it? Cheers all, speak soon! |

No body kits, turbocharged engines or vented bonnets for me! |
Looks very nice mate, nice and clean, exhaust seems to be out of line a little bit but nice car ;)

I thought the exhaust seemed a little.. Low! Any ideas why? |
Could just be a worn hanger mate or possibly an exhaust rubber is worn, needs moving to the right a touch too, nothing wrong with it though so don't worry too much lol

Don't suppose you'd be handy getting a completely knackered bolt off a wishbone bush would ya? |
Well one reason for a clunk.. Busted drop link.
Had to angle grind the old one in half! New one in now. ![]() |

Right.. Wishbone FINALLY done!
What a job. The bolt had successfully rusted itself right through the nut and through the bush! Ah well. Here's the pics: ![]() Had to grind the bush clean off for just a pinch of space! ![]() This is the bush. Ground off, then slit through the bush and cut the bolt nearly in half which caused it to loosen the nut off on its own accord and finally... ![]() The nut came loose, undone it and pushed the bolt out! Kaboom! |
Had few go like that on the vts"s....
