Sickies or using holiday is the usual way, or book interviews after hours?

I've found that if they are that interested in you they will accommodate an out of hours interview

Don't most companies run holiday leave april to next april? Either way he's got a long time at work before leave!

Just by booking a holiday, if I had none left and the interview was important I would just call in sick

It seems difficult booking interviews later than 5ish

Yep along time which he's not going to wait. Don't think it's April to April though

Yeah seems the only choice but they may seem to get suspicious calling in sick every week I'd imagine. He doesn't really wanna risk getting the sack lol

The problem with taking a sick day will be if another employer asks about his attendance record....

Does he have flexi time? Take a longer lunch?

Voulunteer for jury duty and cram the interviews

As said it depends on his sickness record and contract/sick policy...

we can be off for 5 days within 6 months with no punishment so interviews has pretty much never been a prob for me

If I remember rightly this rule only applies if the workforce has been notified of redundancies and they are in the consultation period?

I'm sure thats what we were informed by our union in a job I had quite a few years back, but the rules may have changed again :geek:

An old workmate of mine just got other workmates to cover for her, to come in on their time off to cover for her and work were fine with it as long as the job was getting done they didn't ask the reason why usually, but he could always say that its family/home trouble or something?

Or if he's that desperate see if they have an unpaid leave policy and he could take the day off unpaid, I've known places to allow that also
