1.6 THP engine
Anyone put a DS3 1.6 THP engine into a Saxo/ 106 yet?
Good power but what's the fitting entail? |
Fitting wouldnt be too hard as its similar dimensions but youd need a complex ecu to run it. I wouldnt bother though, theyre not the most hardy engines and the timing chain setup is pretty grim.

Ah, gotcha. Didn't know they weren't that tough. Really thought they'd be fine, don't they put out 200bhp ish I as standard in the DS3 Racing and Mini, etc?

they are shit engines.
forget it. Yes, they can produce 200hp, but when a 306 2.0 16v Xsi is still catching your 200hp mini at 140mph+ y'know... |
A 306 xsi wouldnt catch anything at 140+

looked at them 4 years ago --not simple to swop
serious tuning --very costly=as would be an ecu system to run direct injection. It will give more power reliably than a tu5j4 or jp4 engine , when tuned correctly . not seen many people runing saxo,s with pockets that deep --hence i never went any further than working out what needed to be done release the best from that unit |
One of my options if my engine ever goes bang.
1.6T or a 206 1.6 XSI JP4 and body it and use the XSI ECU. My ECU & complex electrical system makes my car crap for big mods without loosing features. I'll watch this thread as I haven't seen anyone bar on info talk about these engines for swaps. |

It's not happening yet, the stock engine would be great with the car stripped and a map. I just hate the complex electrical system. I guess though if it was to become a track car I wouldn't exactly need to have the climate control and other bits working... Got me thinking now lol. |
strip all that out and fit a standalone?
Or build something a bit more basic for track |

I remember Sandy Brown saying he said the EW is a technically good engine and sees no reason you couldnt get big power from it, pockets permitting.
Given the way the manifold routes down the back it might make turboing a bastard. Maybe consider supercharging instead? |
I'd personally not put a jp4 in a 206 unless boosted, my mother had a cc and it was drastically under powered, Chris' lass had an xsi iirc? And it was sluggish too
