Gaz coilovers springs and B8s

I'm looking at running this set up - gaz coilover springs with my Bilstein B8s. Has anyone run this setup or something similar? I'll be doing a few track days and fast road use.

So using the below with B8 inserts.

It doesn't say what lb-age the springs are so I'd bank on it being not very good. Unless of course the springs match what the b8s are valved to.

However, you can get the coilover kit from rally design for £50 and get some custom springs made to match for about £50. Saved £50 and have a set of springs to match the b8s. The only thing you'll be missing is the spacer to make them fit the standard top mounts and bearings.

I believe the springs are exactly the same of those used in the complete gaz coilover kits if that helps? All ready have the B8s on the car and I can get these for jus over £100 so it would be bonus if they are good and work?

By all means they're not going to be shit. It's just hard to say how good they will be without knowinh the spring rates. Worth a punt I'd say though.

I'll try and find out the spring rates today and come back to you.

I've just found out the spring rate is 300lbs

They should be good with the B8s, be worth double checking with Bilstein what they are valved to though.

Prickle 23rd June 2014 08:41

Out of interest why do you want to use them and 300lb?

My 40mm Faulkners are 155lb and i'd say thats "nice" enough with the B8's..

For the benefit of them being adjustable so I can change my front end height to what I want rather than buying springs and half the time not knowing what they will lower the front end by.

jigs where are you getting these for just over £100.. i could do with something stiffer up front, got b8/group N on the car and was looking to convert to these

Would you not be better of getting some springs made with an adjuster? So you can then choose you exact specification?

I use the gaz unit shown here with grp n dampers.

I will be changing asap as need damping adjustment for wet days...

blackie_2k5 28th June 2014 18:23

do you rate them stu.. im running group n/b8 and looking to get these..only gonna be road/track day so im thinking they should be decent for my car

sexy_gt 29th June 2014 09:37

I think ok but not enough damping...
