Fuel pump problems

A few days ago this started completely randomly, but when I turn the key to ignition, the fuel pump doesn't prime. I key having to take the key out and putting it back in and trying again, then after about 10-15 times it'll prime and the car will start fine, then after a few seconds the car will cut out, I'll restart it and it'll run fine then.
But I'm having to do this every morning now, is it just time for a new pump?

easier connect a 12v bulb across the fuel pump wires --if laight stays on and it stops you know its the pump --if it goes out then its power problems
cheaper than buying a pump
