Horrendous squeaking from exhaust
 
Squeaking badly esp when cold the sprung bolt setup on the centre section to downpipe join is past it? does it all the time now but even worse when cold. Exhaust place tried to get me to buy a new section ( its blowing slightly but not that bad! + just passed an MOT!)

I did a search and it came up with that I've typed above. being a common problem.

Can anyone possibly shed some light on this and provide the part number I need to get

I've never head of that problem being common. You probably need a new exhaust. Just get it welded up. one piece exhaust ftw

Nope definately not, it will not squeak when stationary.

"Its the exhaust flange people.. When you accelerate the engine moves a little.... and so should the exhaust with it... If theres no flex inyour exhaust then it wil just make this annoyin creaking noise, and yes it does go away with about 10 - 15 mins of driving because everything is hot and has expanded... Probably taking away any movement at all.... It is the exhaust flange. What im having done is the flange stripped down... gasket replaced, and new bolts on the flange to slacken the tightness of my springs.....cause on my car they were dead tight (No back and fourth spring at all in the coil) "

I'm certain its this ^ so next question how easy / much is it to sort and what parts do I need? would I really be better off buying a new exhaust ?!

As above, loosen off you center section bolts with the springs on it. The springs are there so the exhaust can move with the engine, some people take the springs out all together but it puts a lot of tension and strain on the manifold studs.

Can also be where the exhaust heats up expands and rubs in the transmission tunnel.

Or the gear linkage rubbing against the heat shield
