Budget Question
Hi i want to ask you about a turbo conversion for my Vts. I will have a budget of about 1300 pounds i am wondering is that will be enough for the conversion?
Thank you. Laurynas |
Bump up. Maybe somebody can tell me.
Btw i am going to do mainly everything myself and i will try to buy used parts. Thank you. Laurynas |
imo you will struggle to get a setup for that price.
a standalone management system+ mapping will take up most of your budget. What are you trying to achieve power wise? You can pick up alot of what you need either on here or on 106owners |
i am thinking to buy a dastek or a predator. i have most of the parts i need a mani, turbo, down-pipe, injectors. i have a fmic and the pipes i will make myself. i work at a scrap\garage\tire shop. maybe somebody could tell me what kind of cars have a t25/28 flange type turbo. or maybe can tell me how to change the flange side on a turbo?
Power wise i would like 200-220. |
Respectfully, please have a search. This is one of the most popular questions on the forums and it's been covered countless times :)
You say you "have most of the parts already" but you then say you need turbo, manifold, injectors, ecu, etc. So what have you got as that's not "most" ;) |
Sorry for my English.....
I was just wanting for a advice from somebody that maybe done it on a budget like that or a similar one and knows some tips what to do and how to do it. :) Btw i was searching and i didn't find any specific info just what i need but not like were is the cheapest to get it or maybe its really easy to make or do. :) I will try to get more information. Who knows maybe about this product? http://www.alibaba.com/product-detai...769180312.html And this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-1...971142536.html |
Hey it's cool dude don't worry. But honestly it comes up all the time lol.
What parts do you have already? |
Aliuminium inlet manifold, fmic + piping, exhaust, boost gauge.
Rest i am thinking to get used. or find it in some other cars at my work. |
whats the problem then if you going to find s/h turbo -then yuo will have to make a manifold to suit it -- predator will do it fine --you say you are a mehcnaic --so again whats the problem -there is no unit the will just bolt on --you got to make stuff -or pay big money -there is no half way
finding a modern car with a 25year old type of turbo is not going to be easy ----so you go find something from a140-200 bhp car and make it fit |
roughly; (Based on a standard compression low PSI setup)
---------- GT1752, CITuning Manifold & Downpipe, Oil Lines £500.00 Sump -10an Fitting £6.00 Oil Cooler £120.00 Standard Fans (Twin) £45.00 Boost Pipes inc Miklar Clips £69.00 Intercooler £49.99 Dump Valve £20.00 Open cone airfilter £70.00 Oil Catch Tank £20.00 Flexipipe (Cut downpipe or chop Decat) Magnex 2.5" Exhaust System £120.00 Predator ECU £500.00 Inovate Lc2 wideband £120.00 2.5 Bar Map Sensor £0.00 (comes with pred if asked when ordering FREE) 3.5 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator £25.00 Megane 225 Injectors / Clio 182/172 £45.00 NGK BCR8ES (Runs Colder) £10.00 Baker BM engine mounts £100.00 although prices and vary due to if new or second hand etc ---------- you will need a clutch too and also budget a few hundred for items you may need if going forged with pistons and new rods and compression changes then a lot more |
never seen such a misleading listing of prices for parts for a conversion --i would ask him to supply ALL these things at those prices and add 20% for a profit margin for him

OK from this lot i have quite few things. Standard Fans (Twin)( one at the moment but have another at work) Intercooler( from a 323 turbo rally car) Open cone airfilter Baker BM engine mounts (bought a full set from Kamracing) Magnex 2.5" Exhaust System ( i made a costom system with a ss center and a decat+open backbox) I have a few turbo cars and a have a oil cooler at work just i cant seem to find what kind of flange it is. Will have some pics soon. BTW guys can somebody tell me about the items in the links above. They are cheap but will it do?( I know the cheap way is not the greatest but sometimes you can get a good piece for a small price from the manufacturer.) |

----- A lot of people have ran a cheap low boost (6-7psi) setup on standard compression and had it mapped by luthor who makes the predator. (roughly 170 - 190bhp) but it does depend on how lucky you are finding decent parts for a low price. talk to him as I believe he has done a few conversions as well. Take a look at the following users progress blogs (some may be old now as they have new cars etc) ben_vts djx11b manc that's all I can think of at the moment :) |
ok guys thank you for the info i will try to get some pics on the next month because my phone died and i will have it on the 31.
Thank you all for the help. Laurynas |
