Rear axle sweaking

Hi All,

Hopefully someone can point me in the direction of an easy fix. When It's either only me or a front passenger the car drives no problems or squeaks however when I have people in the back it's awful, not been lowered either.

Thanks in advance.

Worn out shock absorbers would be my first check mate.

I had this problem before and it turned out to be the dreaded trailing arm bearings problem,

go to the back of the car take a good few steps back and look at the camber of your back wheels, will porbably be /----\ rather than |----|

or jack the back of the car up and put it on axle stands, Hold the back wheel @ 3 & 9 O'clock and give it a wiggle see if there is some play.

If you find out what it is please say as I have the same problem :( think Italy rear bearings

Thanks all, how much damage could I be causing if it's one of the above, I only plan to run it another 2 months before getting rid

The damage is likely already done,

if its whats the same as what happened to my car with the trailing arm breaing then at very least you will need a second hand axle, Personally I would go for a refurbed axle but it all depends how much cash you got to spend

I don't want to spend anything if I'm scrapping it, is it still driveable?

100% trailing arm bearings. IM axles do new axles for a VTR for £250, not to sure how much they are for a 1.1.

Fitting costs around £100 depending on where you go.

Still drivable if you can put up with the noise, will fail an MOT if you need to put it through an MOT.

Thanks all for your help
