saxo running problems
 

Hi all I have a 1.1 saxo and its having a few problems. it wont rev freely when the throttle is fully pressed, it seems to bog down.

I think it may be low fuel pressure and am trying to change the filter but it has these stupid connector on the ends of the hose i just cannot get released.

Can the restricted revving (and by relation sluggish mid to top speed acceleration) be the filter blocked? I m changing it any way.

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

As i said it seems to bog down and stop revving at full throttle.

Please help

My old Saxo done this turned out that it would not run on a standard air filter had to use a k&n check your air filter is nice and clean lol other than that run some injector cleaner thru it and see what that does before you start swapping things around a good service might help aswell

Try a service and change the fuel filter if you already have one, they should be really easy to change!
Also pull off the breather pipes an make sure they're not blocked! Standard air filter will work fine unless it's really badly blocked but doubt it'll be so bad that it'll affect performance but change it during the service

cheers guys that what i though the fuel filter is the last thing to change on a full service but I cannot get the quick release pipe connectors off the filter.

How do I get the bloody stupid connectors off please

they are a quick release type of connector but i dont want to force them because if I break them I am stuffed as there is hardly any slack

anyone come across these connection?

Yeah just squeeze as hard as you can and use a flat head screw driver between the connector and filter and twist it to push the connector off. The connector will have been on for a while and the pressure in the fuel system will keep it stuck on too

cool thanks squeezed hard with pliers and they came off, its better with the new filter but still a little hesitant at higher revs.

Definitely an improvement though ;)

Have you run some injector cleaner in the tank? Be surprised the difference that can make, especially if the car is used when low on fuel a lot as tiny particles that live at the bottom of the tank get sucked up (too small for the filter to work on) and can ruin the spray on the injectors.

Yes ive done that as I tend to be lazy and look at the "Easy Wins" first lol its running a lot better but I still think there is something not quite right.

Would the tappet gaps cause a problem as I have changed the head on the car and they might have got knocked
