Vauxhall build quality/stupid partners

Just took these out of her cunting corsa, after the engine went bang. Think I've found what was at fault...

'It sounded a bit funny but was still going so i thought a 300 mile round trip would be fine.' This from the girl who got a 14 year old to change her wheel at the side of the road because she couldn't get the nuts undone!

Do you find partners inept at anything mechanical?

Our lasses corsa c was a bastard. She drove round with a rear caliper ceased for weeks complaining she could smell a burning.

Mate of mine had a 1.0l Corsa C. It couldn't go a month without breaking down, mainly due to how it had been treated.
Exhaust went, gear selector went, timing chain and head rebuilt was done due to fucked Tappets. Engine lasted another 6 months before oil pump failure and loss of pressure.
Oil change intervals are everything on these engines

I used to have 2 Opels (Vauxhalls) so far and they always had some engine problems. Back then I wasn't driving very often. Lets say 3-4 times per week. So its not like I was giving hard times to the engines or something. The Vectra with C16NZ took like a year to finally get fixed. Lots of small things were going off for no reason. Then the Astra just blew its bottom end 10 miles after full rebuild. I dunno if its the build quality or just bad luck. I have a friend who's huge Opel fan. He had like 7 or 8 Opels and he is happy with them.

Right now I am driving A LOT more and I never had any problems with my VTS or the S13. The only problems were oil pan seal on the Nissan and idle speed motor on the VTS. Besides that they are running great. My father's Peugeot Partner is still running strong after 500k km too. Tbh I was french car hater but I am starting to change my mind, they seem pretty reliable. I never thought I will trust something thats not Japan made (no, I am not Honda fanboy).

my best mate got a corsa c 1.2 16v, fitted a new timing chain (sounded like a tractor like all godamn ecotec engines with more than 30k) cooling system wouldnt bleed after it for love nor money, finally resorted to feeding it coolant directly in the water pump which was fun, then the headgasket went for no reason whatsoever, didnt overheat at all, the engine itself when running well was strangled of power up the revs, the clutch pedal has the feedback of a dead horse and gearbox oil dissapears leaving no trace whatsoever.

*breath*

the steering rack has a horrendous amount of play, all kinds of weird suspension knocks, and it eats through driveshafts like fun.

corsa's are shit. imo.....

Missus' tigra has a z14xep in it, I'm determined to keep on too of the oil changes as that's what seems to kill these engines. Need to flush it again with a cheapo oil first I think as it's black after only 500 miles

Women are shit

I let the wife drive my RS4 home from the pub and she kerbed 2 wheels in that single trip, I was incensed to tear her eyeballs out

We went up and I ended drinking more than I planned, she wasn't drinking and suggested that she could simply drive us home in my car, just laughed all the way to the cab
