Silver 5D

Hi, meet my little 1.1 :) Bought It about 6 months ago and so far it's been a very reliable car. I'm not planning any mechanical modification as i really love the fact that it's so efficient and the budget is tight, too. I'm planning however some visual mods.
Until now I've been able to get some 15" Cyclones from 306 GTI and built pretty nice budget ICE.

The bodywork unfortunately needs some attention in places but overall condition is pretty good. Only rust it has, it's the bonnet, which I already have, just needs painting.

As for the ICE system, It's got:

-Sony CDX-G1100U head unit
-Coaxial speakers JBL CS752
-SPLX amp with a Pioneer 400watt sub

I have also sound deadened front door using sound deadening mats and flashing tape ;) Will also be doing boot lid and hopefully rear doors.

I'm planning to lower It, ideally 60mm all round and get the Hawk remote locking fitted as the original one is broken and opening every door separately is really annoying. Sadly though, I haven't got a garage so with the current weather can't get much stuff done :/

Also got hold of some compressed air horns, so will probably be fitting them soon :)

Keep it simple for now. Reliability is hard to beat :y:

So, a couple of things has changed since the last post ;)

Thanks to some good lad on a facebook group, swaped the original lights for these:

It's not the best angle for the photo, they look much better in person.

I've also painted the front inserts black:

And fitted HID's:

Was supposed to be 3000k, so yellow, yet somehow it's green... Plan was to tint fogs yellow as well but now it's just gonna look stupid.

Front -35mm springs arrived, too. I know, i know - not low enough :D But flatarch with 15' is just not gonna look like i want it to.

Tried fitting them, but realised i've got no ball joint separator so had to put everything back together. While doing that i accidentally fucked the driveshaft :/ And considering it was a weekend, didn't have choice but to drive it 30 miles back home without a nut on it. Of course fucked the wheel bearing and the hub itself, so ended up replacing driveshaft and the whole strut with hub... Will try to do it again at some point in near future :P

I've also replaced the timing belt, tensioner, water pump (which weren't bad after all but didn't have any papers confirming replacement of them in the past), flashed the cooling system and poured new liquid and flashed and replaced the oil in the gearbox.

All in all it's been fun so far ;)

Just out of curiosity, how hard would it be to put the 1.6 16v engine in it?

Ben_SaxoForte 19th March 2016 14:28

Looks a tidy car. Nice garage looks like a good workspace! putting a 16v in isn't really "hard" just depends how handy you are with the spanners. quite a bit of stuff you need though: Engine, gearbox, ecu, full engine wiring loom, exhaust manifold & inlet, possibly new driveshafts, then you'd most likely need brake upgrades aswell and probably a couple of other bits I've forgotten.

LivinProof 19th March 2016 15:53

Won't the 1.1 gearbox fit? Obviously breaks really need upgrade, even with the current engine ;)

HID's put the proper ones back & stop blinding people

Had them adjusted, should be ok. They're not much brighter then normal ones
