Adam Johnson sentence

Not saying it's right what he did but.
is it 6 years he's got? he sent text msg and kissed her, didn't have sexual intercourse.
I think they have made an example of him and it's not comparative to what other crimes get penalised with the sentence.

A lad sending a text msg speeding killed a young girl after he drove onto the pavement gets two years on a speeding program the other night.
A guy dragged a complete stranger off of the street and raped her gets a similar sentence.
Do you all think it's relative to other punishments or harsh?

BUMMERS 24th March 2016 15:39

our 'justice' system is a total lottery. there is no consistency with regards sentencing in the slightest.
After doing jury duty i'd also go as far to say the whole thing is a farce.

stevo67 24th March 2016 15:53

The punishment has not fitted the crime for a long time.

AXracing 25th March 2016 09:53

I am more shocked at the cases the news list of repeated violent offenders and even killers who only got 6 years.

MuZiZZle 25th March 2016 10:48

I thought he finger blasted her as she sucked him off?

deano_123 25th March 2016 11:02

The sentence sent a message to the great unwashed of Sunderland

hahaha so true.

what a shambles the club made of handling the whole thing too.

BSA 25th March 2016 16:24

6 years, sounds like the judge made an example of him.

A fella in my town that I used to ride BMX with for years was found out to have been sleeping with loads of underage girls, sexting, possession of pictures, rape etc. got 3 years and was out in a year and a half. Now has a new identity living 80 miles or so away.

ESD1711 28th March 2016 06:55

The most obvious comparison to make is with the female teach who was having a relationship with a 15 year old boy.

Slept with him 50-80 times, got pregnant by him, got violent when she found out his mum knew, tried to convince him to run away with her.

She initially got a 2 year suspended sentence and some community service. Even after an appeal it was only changed to a 2 year sentence.

What she did was significantly worse than what Johnson did, yet she gets off with a sentence a third as long as his.

Pretty sure I also read they've stripped him of his England caps?! WTF is that all about?!

L33h 28th March 2016 12:02

I was actually saying its shocking and he probably didnt know she was underage... Un till i found out he had amimal porn on his computer and i realised hes a horrible mackem cunt.

She knew exactly what she was doing tho the little bitch

bender 28th March 2016 14:44

I agree that the sentence seems a little excessive at first, but when your a professional athlete representing your whole country in a sport followed by millions of young influential's, that message needed to be harsh.
Yes she knew what she was doing, but so did Adam, just proves all the money in the world cant stop you being a total thundercunt

stevo67 28th March 2016 19:04

Blame on both sides here, the fact that johnson was supposed to be a role model did not help his case. Therefore the judge made an example of him.

ESD1711 29th March 2016 06:44

Surely a teacher is more of a role model / influencial than a footballer no?

I'm not a parent, but if I were I think i'd be placing more trust in the person my kid see's face to face and interacts with in a school environment than I would the person they go to watch over a barrier once a week at the football.....?!

I don't disagree with AJ's sentencing, but I do feel if his is the benchmark, then the teach should be looking at 10 years.

Either the teacher has gotten off lightly on the basis of being a female offender / male victim, or she's gotten off lightly due to her not being a 'celeb' in the same way a footballer is - generally speaking the past seems to suggest you get away with MORE as a footballer than as a member of joe public.

One way or another though, there's clear inconsistencies - what the teacher did was FAR worse.

He knew haha, He was flirting with an underage girl. Regardless of his stature, he’s essentially a peado. His sentence was harsh when you compare it to others who did similar, but he’ll be out in 3 years anyway.

This is completely true. By that age, a good 90% of my school were having sex, girls and boys. Some of the girls were having sex with older lads, albeit by a couple of years and not almost double their age, but it still could’ve got the lads on the sex register. Ruining their life forever.

The pupils in the teachers school will probably look up to the teacher. But the footballer is in the public eye, everyone could potentially look up him. Which is probably why such an example was made. The fact is, he tried it on with an underage girl, flirted with her, sent a few inappropriate messages, behaved way beyond what is acceptable, and they made an example of him. At least now other footballers/celebrities will think twice about what they’re doing, and potentially more cases like this will now be avoided.

Gandi699 30th March 2016 14:25

They made an example of him which is good but as mentioned earlier how do these female teachers you read about in the press that get away with sex/relationships with pupils? After all in my view thats a greater position of trust rather than a footballer you'll never even meet.
Its common too, I see a lot of this kind of horrible stuff working in the legal sector.
Not making light of it as it fucking foul but technically hes not a paedophile - hes an ephebophile but that doesnt sound as good in the press for the masses.

Beccy1982 31st March 2016 10:15

I think they've made an example of him. The trouble is, older kids don't look up to teachers as role models, they look to celebrities. (It's why I hate TOWIE with a passion!)
I do wonder though, if it had been a male teacher and a female student what the punishment difference would be.

Instant death at the hands of daily mail readers.
A female teacher would get cuddles and thousands in compensation
