About rev'ing to 3000rpm

Hey guys. i have a Saxo 1.6 8v from 2003. It keeps rev'ing to 3000rpm. I got told that i should try change the coolant temperature sensor, I ordered one , but apperently it doesnt seem to fit. it is a 2-pin plug , but apperently the 2-pin plug on my Saxo is smaller than the one i ordered even tho it got ordered for a Saxo 1.6 8v. Does anyone have a salution for this.

Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure about the about the coolant temperature sensor. ave you checked and cleaned the idle control valve?

Had this problem on the VTR. As you've said, stripped it all off and put the throttle cable back and was good as new.
