Alternator type for a 52 1.1 Desire

Morning all,

I think I need a ne alternator for my 52-plate 1.1 Saxo Desire (TU1JP). The low voltage light flicks on and off at low RPM, and there's a whine coming from the alternator. Probably dead bearings?

I'm not sure what type I need though - the Haynes book says 'Bosch or Valeo' but doesn't go further than that. Don't want to buy the wrong type!

Here's the one I have now:

Cheers.

Been browsing the web and I've found a few alternators which match the part numbers of this one. Just wondering though - does it matter too much if the voltage/current rating is a bit different to the one I'm replacing?

e.g. my current one is a Denso DAN1063 which is 14V 80A, while I've found a replacement which is exactly the same (also claiming to have the same part numbers) but it's advertised as 12V 70A. Does anyone know if this would still be OK (given I'm running a 1.1 with electric power steering)?

No, voltage and current ratings will be fine.

it'll still put enough voltage. it won't be "12v" it'll output 12-16v.

Good stuff, thanks - new one's on the way. Looking forward to being able to drive with my headlights on again :D
