B&M quickshifter instructions
 
Hello all hope you've all had a good xmas day.... birthday couple days ago got a B&M that says 'easily installed' on the box.... anyways for the benefit (no actually, it wont help anyone) of anyone who is going to buy one... I've written up the instructions that i recieved from them on how to fit it.... As I don't even change my own oil I don't think i'm going to be able to do this... anyways......

Introduction

The B&M Short Throw Shifter can be installed in less than an hour by carefully following the instructions. Read all instructions to familiarize yourself with the parts, tools, and procedures. This kit contains all the parts necessary to install the shifter.

Disassembly

Step 1: Remove shift knob (hehe, knob!)
Step 2: Unclip shifter boot and cut tie wrap holding boot. Remove shifter boot.
Step 3: Carefully raise vehicle. Tools: floor jack and jack stands
Step 4: Disconnect front part of exhaust
Step 5: Remove both heat sheilds
Step 6: Fron imside vehicle, remove two bushings on bottom of stick.
Step 7: From underneith vehicle, remove nut and bolt connecting shifter rod to shifter stick.
Step 8: remove shifter assembly. remove two bushing on bottom of stick
Step 9: Remove upper and lower rubber boots from shifter assembly
Step 10: Remove retaining ring. Pop out and remove shifter stick

Assembly

Step 11: Lubricate (lol) blue pivot of shifter. Parts: grease
Step 12: Install B&M short throw shifger into assembly: Reinstall retaining ring.
Step 13: Reinstall both rubber boots
Step 14: Install bushing on bottom of B&M short throw shifter.
Step 15: Reinstall shifter assembly. Reinstall shifter rod to shifter stick with nut and bolt. Tighten securly
Step 16: from inside vehicle, reinstall four mounting nuts.
Step 17: Reinstall heat shields and exhaust
Step 18: carefully lower vehicle: tools floor jack
Step 19 Install shifter boot with new tie wrap and snap in boot to consol
Step 20: Install shift knob. Place o-ring onto insert groove and snap insert on top of knob. lol how immature
Step 21: Test shifter through all gears BEFORE starting vehicle!



That's it... corrr that took fucking ages to type up.... anyways.... Err that's suppost to be easy and take an hour? I'll give it a go as i got a trolley jack, axle stands and one of them skate board things you wiz about under your car with for crimbo... Anyways who's fitted one of these and can explain all the above?

They arent too difficult to fit to be honest... although my mate fitted another make and not a B&M. It took him around 45mins.

^^^^^same here,done it to a vtr while bk and the only thing that took awhile was the fact that the car was so low that we had to park it on a high kerb (side ways) to fit it but dont take long if you know how to take every thing apart then its a snap

Yes there is a noticable difference :)
