What tyres to get??

been thinking about gettin some new tyres for my vtr but dont really know where to start! ive got standard vtr rims on at the mo so would be looking to replace them. want some decen tyres, heard firestone were good. any reccomendations for what tyres to get? and how much? :y: :y: :y:

TU-Tuning 5th February 2007 15:05

Ive got firestones mate, theyre much better than the budgets i had obivously, but many people have said that compared to other brands such as Yoko, Toyo and Bridgestone the grip is bad, the wear is shite and theyre rubbish in the wet.

For my use theyre fine though, although i dont really test them out atall i never chuck the car around.

willsy 5th February 2007 15:19

Toyo are the best ones ive experienced, never had a problem with any slips and slides in any conditions yet

Baz 5th February 2007 15:31

got Toyo Proxes on mine, no problems as of yet with mine

mrorange2 5th February 2007 15:32

I have toyo proxie t1r's allround on mine and it handle great would recommmend them plus they are very reasonalbley prices on my tyres.

spencer_cammedvts 5th February 2007 15:59

i just picked up 4 t1's for mine £136 delivered! 195/55/14 so should give me better grip than the standard 185's

Simpson_Sax 5th February 2007 17:05

Im getting new ones soon so think i'll go for proxes, how much for two tyres (vtr rims)? Also baz_saxo .... how much did u lower ur car? Im getting mine done soon and the drop on urs is perfect.
I know its in the wrong section just wondering while im here thanks

riggsy 5th February 2007 17:08

Toyo t1s or t1r i tend to go for :)

tpreece88 5th February 2007 17:19

toyo proxies you cant go wrong well worth it!!!

platty 5th February 2007 18:38

Mitchalin Pilots

Barry123 5th February 2007 19:11

I've used Michelin Pilots, Eco's. some budget make, Continental somethings.

Michelins Pilots all the bloody way. dont care on the cost, they've lasted well and have great grip even in the shit conditions.

The michelins Eco's, even though they are one mofo hard compound held the road reasonably well, lasted ages (in fact) now my mother has the car i dont think we've changed them for 30k miles.

The budget ones werent too bad grip wise but the wear rate was kak. never got to try them in freezing temps thank god.

The conti's were on my 106. again good grip but as good as the michy's.

Another thing. dont go budget especially at this time of year... i dont go tight-ass when it comes to only thing that holds you to the ground.

rushy_23 5th February 2007 19:12

Eagle F1s im gunning for but Ive heard kits if good things about the
Toyos T1Rs

Jackman 5th February 2007 19:57

I had yokohama a539's and they were real good.

Jay_VTR 5th February 2007 20:00

I have Toyo Proxies on mine, never had any problems and chuck my car all round the place...Only problem is they wear fairly quick i think...

Colin 6th February 2007 09:49

They do wear pretty quickly.

The T1-S are pretty vague in damp conditions, but the T1-Rs are very good allround.

coshycosh88 6th February 2007 16:24

wheres the cheapest place to buy toyo t1-rs from, spencercammedvts where did you get yours from at that price?

droopster 6th February 2007 22:48

I've got the new michelin pilot exaltos and they are very very very good I would say in wet and dry they grip very well. The only downside is the price as 1 garage wanted £120 a tyre so with any tyre you buy shop[ around to find the best I got mine for £85 in the end!!!

Craig 6th February 2007 22:51

i have had a fair share, i have had the

Yokos - Found these were great in dry, but in wet not so good

Toyo - These are a all round good tyre, only problem is soft compound soon wears down

im running Goodyear Eagle F1's now and there the dogs bollocks, judt pay abit more tho
