Dodgy volume

Hi guys, ive asked this a fair while ago but no one could help me out.

Basically me and Stevenet fitted a new headunit to my car and all was good, but when i started it up and played the headunit i can only go up to about 18 volume without it crackling and distorting.

Now my old headunit didnt have this problem so whats going on, bad earth?

could be loads of things. The speakers now are getting more power than b4 so are distorting. have you got the live and the switched live round the right way, if there are wrong you are starving the head unit of power. Try running the perminant live direct to the battery and fusing it with a heavy guage cable. giving the radio less resistance.

just the settings mate, adjust them to what you like, 18 is a bit high though, mines on 14 with 2 subs and components is loud, i usually only turn it up to about 11 and its a nice listening level, just mess round with the amps and headunits settings till you get it right

It depends on the scale of volume that the headunit goes up to! May be 18 on you new one is a lot higher then it was on your old one.

18 is really quiet on my new one though, my car drones the volume out really when going motorway or high revs.. If i solder the wires would that fix the problem, wouldnt a permenent live feed drain the battery though :S

No perminant live feed to the battery wont drain the battery as it will only draw current when the ignition is on.

Unless its a 60x4w Headunit you dont need a dedicated feed from the battery.

How far does the volume setting go on your head unit?
