sub enclosures
i have fitted a pioneer bass box into my car yesterday, i get more of a 'boom' if that makes sense.
my sub enclosure has a hole in it, what difference would it make if it didnt? would that mean it would respond to a wider range of frequiencies??? also on my amp i have high and low pass filters, but dunno what they do any help will rep thanks :y: sam |

have a read. high pass and low pass are the filters (like an internal x-over) that will either block out high or low frequencies depending what the amp is being used for |
Seal the hole; it'll sound better and the sub will be more efficent.
|
so its a ported box instead of a fully sealed box ???
|
you cant just seal the hole if its a ported box. will then make the enclosure completley the wrong size and will prob sound worse.

its not true ben, a ported box always has a bigger cubic capacity than that of a sealed box. sealing a hole in a ported box will not make it sound better as the vas of the sealed box has not been adheard to for the sub.

Thought it sounded fishy. Sounds good anyway, much better than most of my mates subs and some have spent alot more so im happy

A db guy sold me an empty tri chamber box which had large tuning ports on it, it sounded 50 times better and louder when I removed the long ports and replaced it with a pretty much standard 3-4 inch ones. One of my subs blew too whilst running on the long ports, suppose it worked for his subs.
