Vista

Thinking of upgrading to windows vista tonight :-)

Heard loads of good things about it but some bad things aswell

Like some programs wont work on Vista that do on XP

I downloaded the toll that tells you what programs wont and for me its

Nero Premium
Zonealarm
AOL

Some pretty important programs for me but Vista looks awesome

Has anyone else upgraded

mart1n 12th April 2007 09:14

nope i wont be until some of the service packs are released becuase it is basically a pain in the arse becuase you have to unlock everthing on you commy and it takes a long time lol

Connor_scotland 12th April 2007 09:34

so would you say wait a while

KamRacing 12th April 2007 09:49

I just bought a Mac... much better than what Vista could offer me

Connor_scotland 12th April 2007 10:36

They good then mate

what one did you get

makaveli144 12th April 2007 10:56

Just make your XP look like Vista and pretend, then wait till they sort some of the problems with it.

Euphoria 12th April 2007 13:29

i was thinkin of gettin a mac, didnt in the end :S

VTS_16v_Boy 12th April 2007 15:55

Id always chooce a Mac over PC but sometimes its easier just to get a PC as cross platforming a Mac and PC is a nightmare to say the least.

Vista does look pretty impressive but Id wait a while until the dust settles and all the bugs if any are sorted out.

totally agree up to the point where you said 'and...'

Sticking with XP on my main machine for the time being, gonna get a mac book in the next month or 2 though and hopefully get comfortable enough with it to then go mac before i need to upgrade to windows :y:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it :P

Not a lot wrong with Vista as far as new Microsoft releases go. Especially once you have disabled a few things, and now with drivers and software support being much better. Although I wouldn't run Vista without 2GB ram, maybe 1GB if you really know what you are doing.

Richmt11 14th April 2007 13:53

My mum got vista on her new Dell laptop and all i can say is how crap it is to be honest. Not alot is running on it which is a pain as its a business laptop so alot of her software isnt working.

But even more so than vista being a pain is how completely useless Dell are. I mean what other company supplies a computer wiht windows vista and 80% of the preloaded software isnt actually compatible with the OS ! makes me chuckle.

Dell have offered a nice voucher though for our inconvenience :)

Forgot to mention, i can see it being a very good operating system however once some of the creases are ironed out...
