its another filter inside, its an open and enclosed design kit, dont know why but it looks good

VTS_16v_Boy 17th April 2007 11:16

:err: . . . do I want to ask why it has two filters???

Wont that make it even more restrictive? I just thought it was an empty can to somehow improve airflow or something - Weird

Out of the list I would have gone for the one that relocates the cone behind the headlight but each to their own I guess.

Two filters - Why . . .

KamRacing 17th April 2007 11:46

anything in between the airintake and the engine gives resistance to the flow.

2 filters firstly shouldn't be needed. Just use one good filter.
secondly it could possibly hamper performance.

VTS_16v_Boy 17th April 2007 12:00

lol thats what I thought

If it has a CDA style filter surely it would be just as well to dump the cone filter on the end and just have a direct cold air feed into the carbon (look) filter wouldnt it???

Gota admit the Simota filters do look quite good quality if not abit of an odd setup :P:

andymanc 17th April 2007 12:25

hopefully it wont restrict air flow! looks good neway, we'l see when car returns from garage as its crocked up at the mo

Just to clarify, the carbon bit DOES NOT have another filter in it. Its purely cosmetic. And completely hollow.

However them Simotas are fecking loud!

andymanc 17th April 2007 15:08

wahey! excellent...lol

leeroybrown 17th April 2007 16:23

scrap the crappy filter and replace it with a green cotton one

I heard that Green have gone bust!!!

There you go! :y:

I would have found it very hard to beleive if it had had two filters.

So off hand, what is the advantage of the carbon box? Ive heard loads of funny stories about putting objects in the flow of induction air to make the air easier to mix with the fuel etc etc

Any ideas?

andymanc 17th April 2007 16:46

it was 60 quid bought from here pretty much new of gixxa, £100 new
