17 year old male insurance?

Iv been searching high and low insurance quote for my VTR but its not going too well :(. I recieved a quote for £1100 a year but iv been told i could do a lot better. I live in a respectable neighbourhood so tht wont put my premium up and its parked in a private car park. Its not looking too good but il pay the lowest quote i can find lol.Any ideas on who to try? Iv tried bell, brentacre and websites like confused an elephant and £1100 is the lowest so far. Thanks :y:

£1100 is very good for a 17 year with a vtr, have you tried Quinn Direct?

mrolinc 3rd May 2007 17:37

whos 1100 with? on your own policy?

TU-Tuning 3rd May 2007 17:48

How much was the brentacre quote mate?

Quinns are usually the best i think. 1100 isnt tht bad though

Payney 3rd May 2007 17:49

How you get it that low, i'm 18 and lowest i can find is 2300 to insure a vtr

Saxo_Silver 3rd May 2007 22:32

lol im with directline under my mums name on my saxo 1.1 £1000 <-- as a named driver!! thank god directline are generous and give named drivers no claims bonus!!

Payney 3rd May 2007 22:34

I might see how much it is to go on my mums name too, 2300 for me is affordable, but a pain in the ass at the same time.

yeah but only with them, if you leave them, you dont have any NCB

scott1990 3rd May 2007 22:36

Well i got it on my own isurance for £1100 annually with Direct Line so i get my own no claims etc. It could be due to my area and the fact my mums had the car in her name for a while now and insured it under her name so its not like its just been bought for me.but im realising that £1100 is goood ;) Its a 2001 mk2 so i dont think il turn tht quote down lol :p

Payney 3rd May 2007 22:47

You'll be a fool if you do, you won't get cheaper mate, i'm 80% sure you won't, much lower than mine.

I'm older than you, and mine will be 2200 for a year, when i come to insure a VTR.

scott1990 4th May 2007 11:27

exactly lol.iv phoned them back up and made sure the quote was correct.I can add my mum onto the insurance policy for an extra £150.But i think il pass :P

DavidKent 6th May 2007 23:15

Where did you get quoted £1100 on a VTR mate?
Need to sort my insurance out and mines only a Furio... i pay more than £1100 on mine!

Mate £1100 quid at 17 on a VTR on your own policy is a fantastic price and i would bit their hands off. Although VTR's are only group 7, insurance companies see them as high risk cars solely due to the fact they are popular cars with young drivers.

barney_2k 7th May 2007 14:52

1100 at 17 is amazing

cheapest ive had is 1600!!! at 17 on VTR

TAKE 1100!

unless you got friends in the industry or something i dont think your gonna find it cheaper

Too good to be true. I phoned them up to confirm that the quote was correct, and they took my details etc. They asked if there is more than 1 car at the household and I have 2.So the insurance company didnt bother filling the rest out for me cause they knew right away that my mum wouldnt use my car :( The quote has completely changed and now the best i can get is £2000. Any ideas on who to try? :(

devilsadvocate 7th May 2007 20:17

Thought it might have been.

The difference between your Mum being the main driver and you being the main driver is likely to increase the premium a lot.

if you lie and say your mum is the main driver when you drive it more then that will invalidate your policy if they find out so not worth the risk.

Crag73 7th May 2007 23:11

wow £1100 on your own policy? i pay £1400 a year with fortis through computer quote atm... and i thought that was good!

Dan_C 7th May 2007 23:29

£1400 third party fire and theft on my quiksilver and im 17.

saxovtrCJ 7th May 2007 23:42

for a vtr for me is going to cost me £813.19 with Confused.com

scott1990 8th May 2007 10:46
