What a nitemare!
 

Well today i decided to stick new brakes on the vtr as they were shot to bits. Thought it would be a simple enough procedure how wrong i was!

After removing the front right wheel and caliper i move onto the disk...after around 1 hour of bashing it still nothing it was literally seized on.

A bloke over the road lends me a pulley alls it did was bend it. by which stage i was getting really peed off to say the least. So i ended up resorting to brute force and just hit it with an hammer until it came free (35 mins later).

Has anyone else had this problem removing disks? The car is only 6 years old is it normal for things to seize on so badly after that amount of time ?

jeebus no never had one stuck on like that on a relatively young car, smear of copper grease will stop that happening in future

i dont plan on keeping it mate its up for sale now, hopefully getting rid of it this weekend all being well had enough of it to much going wrong all at once.

i dont really want to get rid of it tbh but its just costing me money all the time.

suppose its the same wiv most people who own 1, but to be honest ive not had many problems with mine really, and the engines and the rest are that easy ya can do most the work yourself, unlike the newer cars, where you just think ??? where do i start? when something goes wrong on mine i just think ah well ya only young once, and its usually caused by the way ya drive, like i had a new clutch fitted about 3 month ago and it started slipping a bit the other day and the release bearings whining, i just laughed! and im gonna get a 4 paddle 1 next time! :y:

but if its cost you loads of money now, then you must have replaced most of the parts, so its in good nick performance wise. why not keep it now!?

work with cars everyday and have never come across anything that bad, even on old cars !

I recently changed my discs and i had to hit them pretty hard to get them off but it certainly didnt take me 35 min of bashing. Maybe the last person to change them didnt put any grease between the hub and disc.

i think you must need a bigger hammer lol

did you take the small screw out that holds the disc on to the hub?
