The Golf is a safe car, just not my type of car, still nice, my mate had a 110 GT TDI MK4 and that was nice.
Focus..i'd be looking at the 1.8, only insurance group 7!
I'd get the focus..you'll be paying 2,500 for a Mk4 Golf on about 150k maybe on a V plate.

Defo stay away from the 1.4! Their slow and fuel wise even worse
